Theatre Manager

The Theater Manager role is critical to ensuring the smooth theater operations of Urbanworld 2014. Theater Managers are problem solvers, must have strong customer service & communication skills and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment.
Location: New York
The areas in which Theater Managers will be responsible for during the festival are outlined below:
Pre-Screening
- Place any posters or materials relevant to screening 30 minutes prior to start of program
- Confirm and execute any setup needs for theater (i.e. reserved seating, directors chairs for filmmakers Q&A, additional microphones, audience award eligibility)
- Announce film, filmmakers and UW14 specific information prior to each screening during welcome remarks (script provided)
- Delegate and lead volunteers on line management, particularly for Opening Night and Closing Night features
- Assist with ushering filmmakers and talent to seating, when needed
- Ensure timely start of scheduled program
During Screening
- Check assigned theater regularly for picture and sound quality
- Set up polling information in theater 10 minutes prior to end of film
Post Screening
- Communicate PollEverywhere process and details to audience post screening
- Managing flow and timing of Q&A; ensure timely conclusion of post film Q&A
General
- Manage volunteer team (role, logistics) while on site
- Ensure that all space and tables are orderly and presentable (no eating in public)
- Address other requests, as needed
Time Commitment
Commitment to a minimum of 2 day shifts and 3 evening shifts (one of which must be Saturday, September 20)
- Registration, AMC - September 17, (12 pm - 4:30 pm)
- Opening Night, SVA - September 18 (6 pm - close)
- AMC - September 19 & 20 - must be available evening of September 20 (10 am - close)
- Community Screenings - September 21 from (5 pm - close). Willingness to travel to Brooklyn, Queens or Harlem.
Compensation
The rates are as follow:
- Opening Night - $100
- Community Screening - $100
- Full day (AMC) - $200
- Half day (AMC) - $100
