Since its emergence in 1988 in San Francisco, ITVS has presented more than 1,300 independently created documentaries for television. One common aspect of ITVS’s programming is its conscious decision to take risks, focus on complex issues, and their ability to provide fresh perspectives on their covered material. Seventy-percent of ITVS’s organizational funds goes to diverse content creators, and of those content creators, fifty-percent are women.
Chair of the Governors Award Committee, Michael A. Levine stated, “ITVS cultivates projects that provide thought-provoking, innovative content from an enormously diverse group of creators,”. “We are proud to present the Governors Award to an organization that supports pioneering television and inclusion both on screen and behind the scenes.”
NALIP is honored to have ITVS as sponsors and looks forward to continue seeing their ascending trajectory in the entertainment industry.
