The Latino Lens Workshop Series: Industry Fundamentals is a series of weekly webinars to prepare current and aspiring industry professionals in developing the fundamentals of the business of media and entertainment through engaging lessons, connecting with industry professionals in various aspects of the agencies, management companies, and building a network of diverse executives. NALIP’s talent development program will provide individuals with the training, resources, and support they need to achieve long-term success in the industry. 

Topics that will be included in the workshop series are below, but not limited to:

  • Emotional intelligence
  • Business of representation
  • State of the industry & trends

Workshops run twice weekly for 10 weeks from May 2020 through July 2020 through virtual webinars. This workshop is nightly, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.

Description:

This program aims to boost the success of participants and direct them into the industry pipeline. Participating in this program will widen the pool of diverse talent. Over the course of 10 weeks, NALIP will train and expose Latinx individuals to an intensive curriculum where they will gain specialized skills and insight on how to succeed in the business of media and entertainment.  Along the way they will be designing a blueprint to thrive as the future agents and executives of this industry.

Program Goal: 

The main outcome of the program is to equip participants with the skills necessary to successfully enter the industry workforce while utilizing their personal taste and instincts to forecast the developments of the industry. Participants will tread into the business of media and entertainment by deep diving into active case studies. This workshop will serve as a primer to individuals beginning their journey into the industry.

Program begins - Tuesday May 12th & will run for 10 weeks through July

    • This workshop will cover all facets of the business aspects of media and entertainment, business of representation and  supplemented by guest speakers throughout the series in varying niche expertise based on the week’s lesson.
    • Upon completion, participants will receive a NALIP certification and a scholarship to the NALIP Media Summit.
  • Do I have to be a NALIP member to apply?
    • No, but we encourage you to look at our membership tiers as each donation continues NALIP’s mission and programs that support diverse creatives in the industry.

  • Where are the workshop dates held?
    • These workshops will be held online via virtual conference software.
  • I'm not available on all those dates. Can I still participate in the workshop series?
    • No, applicants must commit to the entirety of the series.
  • How many are accepted to the workshop?
    • Up to 30 applicants will be invited to participate in the workshop series.

  • What can I expect after I apply?
    • Applications will be fully reviewed by NALIP. Up to thirty participants will be selected to participate. All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by Friday, 5/8/20 via email.
  • I have someone that can benefit from the program, can we apply together?
    • Unfortunately, each applicant will act individually. Both can apply, each applicant must submit their application individually.
  • When can I expect to hear back?
    • All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by Friday, 5/8/20 via email.
  • I received a letter saying that my application could not be processed.  What does that mean?
    • The application for the Latino Lens Workshop Series: Industry Fundamentals must be completed in its entirety and all the elements must be submitted in one submission by the deadline.  Please remember that all applicants receive this same set of guidelines and they must be followed without exception to offer a fair selection process.
  • I received a letter that I was not accepted. Can I receive feedback on my application?
    • There is no further information that can be provided regarding your application. Each application is carefully reviewed by NALIP and their constituents. We encourage you to reapply in the next installation of the Latino Lens Workshop Series: Industry Fundamentals at a later date. We are unable to offer feedback at this time.
  • I missed the deadline!  What do I do? Do you take late applications?  Do you have a waiting list?
    • If you do not have your application submitted by the deadline date, you will have to wait and apply at the next round. We do not accept any applications past the deadline and no exceptions are made. We do not have a waiting list.
