An irreverent frank and cheerful character, Don Rafa is one of many independent drivers who daily crosses through Nogales, Sonora, Mexico into the U.S. with a heavy load. Don Rafa’s life takes a dramatic turn after suffering a heart attack which prevents him from continuing his crossings and earn a living. A work-in-progress documentary, Trailero is the contemplative and thoughtful portrait of a man who refuses to leave his job even when confronted by an uncertain future, racist border dynamics and his own mortality.
