Rodrigo Reyes is a director. Reyes channels his multicultural background into films characterized by visceral, poetic images that capture intimate and raw portraits of reality. The Tribeca Film Institute recently awarded his upcoming film, Sanson and Me with a Heineken Voces Grant.
Last year, he was selected by Filmmaker Magazine as one of the 25 New Faces of Film. In 2012, his documentary Purgatorio was selected for the IFP Documentary Labs in NYC. It premiered at the 2013 Guadalajara International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Film Festival to great reviews. It toured more than 30 festivals worldwide and won many awards, including the Michael Moore Award for Best Documentary at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. A Mexico City native, he studied at UCSD and Madrid.
