Production Assistant, National Programming - WETA

The Production Assistant (“P.A.”) is responsible for providing a diverse range or writing, research, editing, production, and reporting services for public media specials and series.
Location: Arlington, VA
This will include (but not limited to) the development of content for The Asian Americans initiative and The 38th Parallel, a series on the Korean War. The P.A. will also assist in researching potential funders and assist with creating marketing materials including video marketing reels.
NOTE: This is a full time, but temporary position of less than six months with an anticipated end date on approximately June 30, 2016.
Principal Responsibilities
Research content and archives for the Asian Americans, the 38th Parallel and other projects as needed.
Research potential funders for projects including, but not limited to, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
Assist in the creation of proposals and presentations.
Assist with researching and developing non-broadcast activities including educational, communications, on-line and community engagement strategies.
Assist with researching and developing partnerships.
Assist with creating and editing sample video reels.
Coordinate meetings with WETA staff and outside partners and vendors. Keep track of calendar and schedules. A
ssist with administrative duties as needed.
Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Positive, results-oriented attitude with excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
Ability to interact with a wide variety of people using diplomacy, tact, and discretion.
Demonstrated proficiency with internet-based research, content retrieval and generation.
Some knowledge of Asian American history and/or Asian language(s) preferred.
Strong MS Office and PowerPoint skills.
Ability to function well under pressure, distractions, and in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to detail.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferably in any of the following disciplines: Communications, History and/or Marketing.
2-3 years employment experience in a similar position or environment preferred.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
