A New PBS Series Shows How Underserved Latino Communities Are Fighting To Protect Themselves During COVID-19

As the pandemic continues to ravage in the United States, it also continues to disproportionally impact Latinx communities. "Latinos Are Essential" a new series of documentaries shorts released Tuesday from Latino Public Broadcasting (LPS) and PBS, which attempt to shed light on the imbalance by telling 11 stories of struggles and perserviance during the pandemic. Producer and Activist Olga Segura Teams With Exile Content for Latina Talent Incubator
The Mexican producer, actress and activist, Olga Segura has partnered with Exile Content to create a Latina Talent Incubator for the development of emerging female and nongender-binary Latinx content creators. Segura is determined to push voices and have important conversations about Latinx issues. The partnership with Exile Content will bring new perspectives and opportunities to tell innovative stories while commitment to Latinx female creators. Read more here.
IFP Representation Matters: The Importance of Representation in Film and Media
Join IFP in partnership with Minorities In Film on Thursday, November 19th at 7 PM EST for the panel Representation Matters: The Importance of Representation in Film and Media. The lack of representation in film and media can perpetuate harmful stereotypes for groups, especially in film and media which can influence how we view society on a global scale. Immigrants, People of Color, People with disabilities, LGBTQ+ and various religious communities deserve to have accurate representation on screen, and be given the access to tell their own. In this event, hosted by Minorities in Film in partnership with IFP, we’re sitting down with the agents, managers, and lawyers that advocate for the very talent we seek to amplify in the conversation for diverse representation and inclusion. Broken English Prods.:Aiming to fix Latinx Imbalance On Screen and Behind the Scenes.
Broken English production a fledgling Latinx production company, which hopes to “change the narrative” in the works of its CEO Christopher Acebo. The production company joins Lionsgate’s Pantelion and other companies in addressing the paucity of Latinx films in hopes of developing more Latinx characters and that are move global-oriented movies. Peliculas Nobles Launches New Argentine VOD Platform

Filmmaker-led VOD platform for Argentine films, Peliculas Nobles, launched Argentina’s Gema Juarez Allen of Gema Films and Diego Dubcovsky of BD Cine and Varsovia Cine on Nov. 16, 2020. The main priority of Peliculas Nobles is to concentrate on the search for both classic and recent Argentine films. Peliculas launched 70 features and short films. Read more on Variety.
