‘Gears of War’ Video Game Franchise to Get Feature Film, Animated Series Adaptations at Netflix (Exclusive)

Netflix has big plans for "Gears of War," such as creating a feature that is followed by a series.  So far there are zero filmmakers and producers part of the new project. New Line briefly had film rights for the title, but Netflix offered a better deal for the film scout.

WGA Sets Contract Negotiating Committee As Potential Writers Strike Looms

WGA East and WGA West appointed their willing and experienced members to negotiate with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers. This could potentially lead to a writers strike, which would be the first in fourteen years. One of the gains that they want is a better minimum and over-scale compensation.

NBCU Launch Reveals Scripted TV Directors Program For 2022-2023

NBCU Launch disclosed their class for their TV Directors Program and Female Forward. The class includes Tayo Amos, Melanie D'Andrea, Kryzz Gautier, Saray Guidetti, Gia-Rayne Harris, Elisabeth Rohm, and Nicole Taylor-Roberts. They will get a chance to lead a Telemundo scripted series as an effort for the program to increase the number of experienced Latine female directors in TV.

Sundance Institute Names 2022 Episodic Lab Fellows

Britt Adams “Onyx”, Gianmarco Giacomelli “Orlando”, Samantha Clay “The Growth”, Stephanie Adams-Santos “Sad Girl”, Sylvia Batey Alcalá “Blue Neptune”, and Tea Ho “Oriental Town” were selected for The Sundance Institute’s 2022 Episodic Program. It’s a six-day program that brings writers with original IPs together to work with established professionals.

‘The Rewind’ Adaptation Set at Netflix, Clubhouse (Exclusive)

Netflix optioned romantic comedy, bestselling book “The Rewind” written by Allison Winn Scotch. Clubhouse Pictures will be producing the book into a feature film. Allison Winn Scotch is repped by CAA and The Book Group.

Jenny Ramirez Joins Corie Henson’s Alternative Team at NBCUniversal (Exclusive)

Jenny Ramirez has left Warner Bros. Discovery and joined NBCUniversal Television and Streaming for the same role: Senior VP Unscripted. She will be supervising unscripted development and productions for reality/talent competition series and game shows across various networks.

14TH AAFCA AWARDS

AAFCA opened submissions for their 2023 AAFCA Awards on October 3rd and the deadline for submissions closes on the second of December. There are eleven categories and four specialty awards. Their top 10 will be announced on the 8th of December, winners on the 16th of January, and the annual awards is set for the 14th of March.

Season 2 Of Emmy Winner THE WHITE LOTUS Debuted To 1.5 Million Viewers Sunday Night, Up 63% vs Season 1 Premiere

Season 2 premiere of “The White Lotus” had over 1.5 million viewers in the U.S. on HBO Max and linear TV, according to Nielson and other data. The first season received 20 Emmy nominations and won half of them.

The Walt Disney Company announced a $1 million grant to Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication for over five years with Disney Storytellers Fund at FAMU. This grant is part of the Disney Future Storytellers program. The grant will provide selected students with tuition and house scholarships, stipends, mentoring, and more

Hispanic Heritage Foundation announces collaboration with IBM to upskill Latinos through IBM Skillsbuild and meet America’s workforce needs
