NALIP is excited to announce that the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) will be presenting “Triple Threat: Latino, Gay and A Writer!” panel at our 2017 Media Summit!

The panel will be moderated by actor, director, and journalist Marcos Nájera, and will feature WGAW writers who will cover what it’s like breaking through the Hollywood system. Speakers will discuss the stereotypes sometimes imposed on Latinos and the LGBTQ community, and share the journeys which have made them the writers they are today.

NALIP Announces the Official Selection for the 13th Annual Latino Media Market

The National Association of Latino Independent Producers proudly announces the selected group of content creators to participate in the 2017 Latino Media Market (LMM).  Meetings will take place during the NALIP Media Summit at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, CA on June 23rd and June 24th.

Out of a competitive pool of applicants, several producers and directors were selected to take meetings with executives and funders in the following categories: Low Budget Features in Development, Documentaries in Progress, Digital Web Series, and Scripted TV Concepts.

The Latin Alternative Music Conference is the only major conference devoted to bilingual and bicultural cutting edge music.The five-day event includes panels, concert showcases, parties and films and draws a tastemaker crowd of leading artists, executives, journalists and forward thinkers.

Anthony Ramos has been keeping busy this year! He will be starting production for two new films, ‘A Star is Born’ and ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters.’

‘A Star is Born,’ is a Warner Bros musical directed and performed by Bradley Cooper, alongside Stefani Germanotta, also known as Lady Gaga, and Anthony Ramos. The musical will be about a singer (Germanotta) who falls in love with an aging rocker (Cooper) who launches her career as his own goes downward spiral. Ramos will play Germanotta’s best friend, Ramon, an aspiring dancer who is born to be in the spotlight. The film is in production and will not be released until September 28,2018.

NALIP members are invited to attend the MIP Cancun Cocktail at the LA Screenings on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will take place at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Century City.

The event celebrates MIP Cancun, a 3-day content market and summit dedicated to TV programming in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market. It is the only 1-to-1 meeting event for distribution and production executives - meeting a growing demand for international companies looking to do business with their counterparts in Latin America.

Pantelion Renews Deal with Eugenio Derbez' 3Pas Studios

The Lionsgate Entertainment and Grupo Televisa joint venture, Pantelion Films, has renewed its first-look deal with Eugenio Derbez and producing partner Benjamin Odell’s company 3Pas Studios. Derbez has had massive success in the U.S box office for both his movies ‘How to be a Latin Lover’ and ‘Instructions Not Included,’ needless to say the studios recognized the accomplishment.

‘Instructions Not Included,’ was a successful movie for Derbez, making it the highest-grossing Spanish-language film ever released in the United States ($44 million) and the highest-grossing Mexican film in Mexico ($48 Million). The second Pantelion Film partnership with Derbez, ‘How to be a Latin Lover,’ did amazing in the first week of release bringing in 12 million dollars on just 1,118 screens.
