The Orchard has purchased North American rights to “We the Animals” following its debut at the Sundance Film Festival. The coming-of-age story will get a theatrical release in 2018.

CBS has ordered three new pilots created by women. Gloria Calderon Kellet who has been a speaker at both the Diverse Women in Media Forum and the NALIP Media Summit, has been ordered a pilot for "History of Them." She will also be featured at our upcoming Latino Lens Workshop: Showrunning on Tuesday, January 30th. Read more below.

Edward James Olmos will direct and star alongside David Strathairn in “The Devil Has a Name.” The film is described as an environmental, dark comedy. Both men are Oscar nominees — Olmos for “Stand and Deliver” and Strathairn for “Good Night and Good Luck.”

According to sources, the bid from a group led by Maria Contreras-Sweet has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire the company that plunged into darkness after the scandalous revelations about its leader, Harvey Weinstein.
