    ‘The Lord Of The Rings’: Amazon Studios Sets Series Cast – TCA

    Amazon Studios at TCA today announced the first group of regulars set to star in their adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings series. The cast officially includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers and Daniel Weyman. Cameras roll next month. Table reads in New Zealand are already underway.

    In a hot button moment where many are scrutinizing the paucity of females in the Oscar nominations, Gigi Saul Guerrero continues to establish herself as a new voice in genre, a space usually haunted by men. She has just been set by Orion Pictures to direct the horror thriller 10-31, about a young woman who takes her niece and nephew trick-or-treating and discovers a note inside a candy wrapper informing her there’s a killer loose on her block.

    Gael García Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle) and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who are executive producers on Amazon’s upcoming limited series Untitled Cortés and Moctezuma Project, have closed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. As part of the deal, Bernal and Luna will create and produce content for Amazon Studios to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. Luna and Bernal recently announced their new production house in Mexico, La Corriente del Golfo, an independent company for cinematic, theatrical, and television productions and a variety of community-oriented projects.
