NALIP Awarded Grant from The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences

Posted by on May 04, 2017

The Academy Grants program supports the overall mission of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which is to recognize and uphold excellence in the motion picture arts and sciences, inspire imagination and connect the world through the medium of motion pictures. The program is also a testament to the Academy’s commitment to diversity. It seeks to fund organizations that open pathways for storytellers from a wide range of backgrounds, and especially those from underserved communities.

NALIP is honored to be part of 44 organizations selected to receive funding under the FilmCraft and FilmWatch programs this upcoming grant year. The grant supports Latino Lens, a program designed to develop, nurture and produce a series of Latino creators’ and filmmakers' projects. Latino Lens aims to showcase these creators’ and filmmakers’ talents as producers, directors and writers. We are thrilled to have our program selected from hundreds of proposals, and we are eager to use this opportunity to continue leaving a mark in the industry.

Our organization’s commitment to inclusion within the media landscape only grows with each of our small successes, and as we move forward, we look forward to continue building our programs along with our supporters and our membership. Thank you to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for your support and for allowing NALIP to continue advancing Latino content creators across media.
