Flavio Alves' 'The Garden Left Behind' to Screen at Outfest 2019

Following its premiere at SXSW Film Festival in March, Flavio Alves' The Garden Left Behind has been selected to screen as one of the Narrative Features at Outfest 2019! 

A total of 50 transgender actors and filmmakers were involved in creating The Garden Left Behind. 

According to the press release, "it provides us with an intimate and realistic portrayal of the trans experience living in America, from activism and advocacy, to personal relationships with family, lovers and friends."

Reinaldo Marcus Green to Direct Will Smith in ‘King Richard’

Warner Bros. has signed “Monsters and Men” filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green to direct the tennis biopic “King Richard".

The film will star Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams, who have won a combined 30 Grand Slam titles and 14 Doubles Grand Slam titles.

“Monsters and Men,” Green’s directorial debut, premiered at Sundance in 2018 and earned a Special Jury Prize for Outstanding First Feature. 

Smith, who most recently starred as the Genie in Disney’s remake of “Aladdin,” is set to appear later this year in Ang Lee’s “Gemini Man,” which will be released by Paramount in October. He will also return to the “Bad Boys” franchise alongside Martin Lawrence in “Bad Boys for Life,” which hits theaters January 2020.

‘Pose’ Renewed For Season 3 By FX

FX has given an early third season renewal to its groundbreaking drama series Pose, from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals, Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
 
The June 11 season two premiere of Pose was the most-watched telecast of the series, drawing 1.2 million Total Viewers. In all, the premiere telecast, two encores and streaming have delivered 1.8 million Total Viewers in the first five days. Pose joins American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy, Nip/Tuck and The Shield as FX drama series that outperformed their series premiere telecast.

Creator and Executive Producer Steven Canals participated in NALIP's 2018 #WeAreInclusion Campaign & was a part of the 2018 NALIP Media Summit as a speaker on the "Breaking Identities panel". 
 
Pose returns tomorrow night, Tuesday, June 18th at 10 PM ET/PT on FX.
