Manager, Franchise Project Management

The Manager for Franchise Project Management is a key member of Skydance Media’s Interactive Licensing department and supports the execution of various franchise strategies by managing projects across the interactive mediums which result in robust revenue streams. The ideal candidate will be passionate about gaming and will have experience developing AAA games, because they will be responsible for ideating and designing games around Skydance's IP, as well as project managing external development partners. The primary goal is to facilitate and manage multi-million-dollar revenue streams by coordinating schedules, details, and deliverables for projects and activations supporting titles across the Skydance portfolio in addition to helping track and record the ever-growing possibilities for each respective title.

The person in the role should be highly organized, self-motivated and hold deep pride in their work. A passion for video games is an absolute must and a love of storytelling, fandom and traditional entertainment is highly desired. This role requires clear, concise and routine communication around multiple projects in development at any time. Additionally, a diplomatic demeanor is required as the complexity of deals and relationships often require deft interpersonal skills and a willingness to assuage concerns in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

    • Report to Vice President of Business Development and Franchise Strategy.
    • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact with external interactive partners developing projects with Skydance IP.
    • Build and maintain a tracking database for asset and material submissions requiring creative and legal approval from Skydance stakeholders.
    • Process submissions and ensure approval decisions are made within contractually obligated time frames.
    • Draft and distribute guidance, updates, and protocols pertaining to these projects.
    • Support department’s efforts to develop revenue generating ventures.
    • Track multi-million-dollar deals and compile project performance data for projected revenue.
    • Provide regular written creative feedback on gameplay, assets, story, character and materials to ensure Skydance IP brand quality and authenticity.
    • Review potential game proposals and game design documents (GDDs) and craft written assessments at key development milestones.
    • Establish fluency with Skydance IP through research of source and production materials (i.e. original works, scripts, bibles) and collaborate with Skydance creative divisions.
    • Build effective pitch decks highlighting franchise concepts and unique opportunities to leverage within interactive.
    • Assist with planning and strategy. Build and maintain a tracking database for potential partners across interactive mediums in order to help identify key potential partners (developers, publishers, platforms) to fulfill Skydance’s franchise strategy.

Requirements

      • Expertise in gameplay design for interactive mediums (console, PC, mobile, VR, AR)
      • Proven track record of building interactive narrative structures as well as designing characters, factions and other IP elements
      • Fluent understanding of interactive business models, current industry standards and key players (platforms, publishers and developers)
      • Working knowledge of game engines including Unreal Engine 4 and Unity and an ability to communicate directives given their technological frameworks
      • Passion for interactive and fandom surrounding entertainment IPs. Intellectual curiosity about traditional entertainment mediums
      • MSOffice and Google software suite proficiency; Excel knowledge preferred
      • Excellent verbal and written communication—ability to quickly and efficiently write reports in succinct, accurate language
      • Outgoing, friendly, and assertive personality
      • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Education Requirements | Experience
    • Four-year college degree or equivalent
    • 3-4 years of interactive experience, specifically in gameplay and narrative design and/or production.
    • Experience in traditional entertainment (film, TV) a plus
