Latinx Accomplishments Celebrated and Honored at The Latino Media Awards

The stars of the night were all laughs and smiles as some of the awardees greeted familiar and new faces before the much anticipated Latino Media Awards Gala began.

 


Latino Media Awards Honorees

Gustavo Santaolalla - Lifetime Achievement Award

Known as "One of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America" and "50 Smartest People in Hollywood," award winning composer and all around artist, Gustavo Santaolalla received this year's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 NALIP Media Summit this past Saturday.

Diego Luna - Outstanding Achievement In Film Award

With his break out starring role in the award-winning film Y Tu Mama Tambien and recent role in the blockbuster film Rouge One: A Star Wars Story, Diego Luna has been breaking walls in Hollywood for years. Receiving this year's Outstanding Achievement Award in Film, Luna inspires young Latinxs fans to never be ashamed of the person they are or change for anyone.

Isabela Moner - Lupe Ontiveros Award

This year NALIP's Lupe Ontiveros Awardee went to the talented Singer, Actress, Dancer, and Songwriter Isabela Moner, who recently starred in Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight and stars in the new Benicio Del Toro film Sicario: Day of the Soldado

Victoria Alonso - Tech Arts Innovator Award

Victoria Alonso, the Executive Vice President of Physical Production for Marvel Studios, uses her superstar role to oversees post-production and visual effects for the studio slate. For her contributions in a field rarely showcasing Latinx female talent, Alonso rightfully was honored with the Tech Arts Innovator Award.

Mishel Prada - Outstanding Achievement in Television Award

Mishel Prada's role in the new original Starz series "Vida," by Showrunner Tanya Saracho, has brought recognition and representation to Latinx members of the LGBTQ community while bringing awareness through mainstream media of the dangers of gentrification and loss of community.

 

PBS - Lisa Quiroz Media Advancement Award

For nearly fifty years, PBS has been a fixture in the lives of Americans of all backgrounds, providing exceptional content rooted in education. Like no other media outlet today, PBS provides room for diverse viewpoints, experiences and voices that build understanding and make our nation stronger. 

Cris Abrego - Industry Pioneer Award

Cris Abrego was named CEO, Endemol Shine North America and Chairman, Endemol Shine Americas, in November 2016. Abrego oversees both the North American and Latin American divisions of Endemol Shine Group, the global independent content creator, producer and distributor.

ARRAY - We Are Inclusion Award

ARRAY, was founded by Ava DuVernay, and is an independent film distribution and resource collective comprised of arts advocacy organizations, maverick volunteers and rebel member donors worldwide. Their work is dedicated to the amplification of independent films by people of color and women filmmakers globally.

Dulce Candy - Digital Trailblazer Award

From an Army Veteran to a Youtube Vlogger, Dulce Candy received the Digital Trailblazer Award for inspiring millions of young women around the world to find their passion and achieve their dreams.
