KASE PEÑA

An award-winning filmmaker, Kase Peña was born in New York City. She's a Transgender Latinx Woman, the offspring of working class parents from the Dominican Republic, and she's fully fluent in Spanish. Kase recently made history as the first Transgender Latinx Woman to get hired as a Staff Writer on a scripted TV show when she joined the writing team of "Brujas" created by Showrunner Tanya Saracho. This past January, Kase shadowed Emmy Award winning Director/Showrunner Jill Soloway on Transparent Finale. Kase has been the recipient of some of the most prestigious Fellowships in the industry, including The Latino Lens Directing Program; the Outfest Screenwriting Lab, among others. Sony Pictures Entertainment named Kase their 2019 Diversity Fellow, an honor that goes to one Project Involve Fellow each year. An active WGA member, she is (to date) the only known Transgender Latinx woman to join the Writers Guild of America, West.
