Study: Diversity in TV Casting Increasing, More Lead Roles for Women

The UCLA report shows that there is an increase in diversity in TV shows but that big-budget shows signs of a possible retreat in gender and diversity initiatives. The study found that diverse shows brings in a larger non-white audience, as well as a stronger social media engagement for those shows. It was also reported that although there is an increase in diversity on shows, BIPOC actors are still underrepresented on broadcast TV.
