Actress Raquel Welch died on Wednesday (February 15th) at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness. Her son confirmed her death to the New York Times . Welch was 82.

Movies Starring Women of Color Hit 16-Year High in 2022, Study Finds

The annual report from USC’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative found that popular movies starring women of color hit a 16-year high in 2022. It also found that half of the women over 45 who led or co-led a movie were women of color. The research group’s annual breakdown of the demographics of movie leads has added the latest yearly batch of 100 domestic top-grossing films, making “Inequality Across 1,600 Popular Films: Examining Gender, Race/Ethnicity & Age of Leads/Co-Leads From 2007 to 2022” its biggest yet.
