Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on bringing the broadway hit Hamilton to Puerto Rico by 2019. This venture has been in the works for a while, but Miranda has decided to release the news earlier than planned in light of the current situation in Puerto Rico.

Fabrica de Cine, the Mexican production house of Mexican producer and frequent Scorsese-collaborator Gastón Pavlovich (“Silence,” “The Irishman,”) is moving into high-end TV initiating development on miniseries “Antonieta,” a portrait of the life of Antonieta Rivas Mercado, a pioneering intellectual, writer, arts patron and women’s rights activist during 1920’s Mexico, one of the most vibrant periods in its history.

Somos Productions, Boomdog TV, and Piñónlywood Studios are producing along with Endemol Shine Latino a new scripted drama series based on the popular Puerto Rican boy band Menudo. The series will be called "Súbete a Mi Moto - The History of Menudo", based off the title of one of their most popular hits from 1981, and will focus on the creation and rise of the popular band.

 Following the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, Hollywood has seemed to redeem itself with notable wins from Moonlight and Fences  highlighting stories featuring African American lead actors and actresses. But the question is and still remains, is this enough representation? What about Latinx women? Afro Latinx? When it comes to true representation, Hollywood needs to look further into the spectrum of these identities within the Latino experience.

‘Upgraded’: Ale Damiani To Helm Fox International Productions’ Latino Comedy

Fox International Productions has set Ale Damiani to direct Latino comedy Upgraded, a wish-fulfillment story written by Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman. Damiani made the sci-fi short-film M.A.M.O.N., a satirical critique of the U.S. president’s immigration policies that gained an international following after it was released last year (see the video below, featuring a robot Donald Trump).
