ABOUT THE SERIES
Each year, P.O.V. brings 12-16 new films to public television viewers. Our summer series and year-round specials push the boundaries of nonfiction television with work from emerging and established filmmakers that reflects the range and diversity of American voices — viewpoints that enrich, enlarge, challenge and refine our experience of the world.
If your non-fiction film has a strong perspective, a dedication to quality, contemporary relevance and a passion for your topic, then the P.O.V. series is the best place for a national television broadcast. If you believe the entire country should see your film, P.O.V. is for you.
P.O.V. films are seen in 97% of the country with an average audience of 2-4 million per broadcast, making P.O.V. the most-watched independent documentary showcase on television today. Thousands see our films in community and educational screenings around the country, and our website has millions of visitors each year. We also develop strategic national press and promotional campaigns to highlight the issues explored in P.O.V. films.
P.O.V. is filmmaker-focused; intent on supporting and presenting the work of today's best contemporary storytellers. We believe in the power of stories to change minds and hearts, enlarging our understanding of the world around us. Our goal is to surround each film with the tools to ensure a long and active life on television and beyond.

A word about Brewster Kahle's digital archive. It's a treasure house of stock footage, most of it free for the taking.
Brewster is one of the dot.com zillionaires (he was instrumental in creating and marketing the search engine), but in lieu of bigger homes and faster yachts, he's turned his money and brains toward creating the world's largest digital library. Let me rephrase that. The world's largest FREE library.
He wants to digitize everything ever created. And he wants that information to be available to everyone everywhere, free of charge. His "wayback machine" holds snippets of every website from the beginning of the Internet. And the archive is jammed with images, audio, films, videos....
Some of the footage is top quality. Some is lower resolution, with better versions carrying a price tag Brewster isn't out to rip off artists or con them into giving away footage. One of his main goals is figuring out new revenue streams to replace the current royalty system - a holdover from the days before digital, with outmoded fees that can generate mind-numbing price tags of $100/sec and beyond.
If you're looking for stock footage and don't have unlimited funds, www.archive.org should be your first stop. There's so much here, it may well be the only place you'll need.
Now here's the big part....
If you have footage - docs, industrials, demos, infomercials, anything you've created - Brewster wants to add your stuff to his archive. It's great publicity for you and you can stipulate the quality of the image that's displayed. If you like, if you think there's a profit to be made, save your hi-res stuff for pay-as-you-go downloads. But this is the single best (and classiest) place to stock your footage.
There's upload information on the website. And I'd bet this is the first time you've been asked - even begged - to add your footage to a stock library.

A few years ago, the Pharmaceutical companies conducted a nationwide study, and the survey said Latina ’s Don’t PMS!

It was then, Iris Silverio developed the critically acclaimed show “Latina’s Don’t PMS”, which was presented at The World Famous Apollo Theater for "Women's History Month" in March of 2006, there it achieved a track record of complete sold out perfromances!
From Latin Hollywood Films, the creator and producer of the award winning show Hot Tamales Live comes, Latinas Don’t PMS! I still remember how my cheeks burned at the end of my first job interview in Manhattan. I'd spent an hour sharing my dreams with a high-powered media type, thinking it was going brilliantly. Then he announced, "I might hire you—if you get that stain out of your dress." I slunk out of his office like a kicked puppy.
That's not unlike what happens on the first episode of Ugly Betty. When Betty shows up at Mode magazine to ask about a job, the H.R. person takes one look at her bushy brows and ugly outfit and tells her every position is filled. But rather than slink away, Betty races after him and, in a gutsy speech, explains why she's qualified.
America Ferrera, 23, is a lot like her character (though the word ugly would never apply). She's spunky, driven and real. A child of Honduran immigrants, she grew up in a mostly Caucasian neighborhood and knows what it's like to be an outsider. High school, she has said, "was about hiding all the things that made me different."
But as she set out to become an actress, America unloaded the Ugly Betty feelings and discovered the power that came from being herself. She's proof that nice can trump mean. And passion will always take you much further than an obscenely priced handbag.
