Alma was an accomplished actress, member of AFTRA, SAG and Nosotros. She was featured in several movies and television programs from her days in “The Flying Nun” in 1969 to her last appearance in 2002. She was the first woman president of Nosotros and held that position for two terms.

Alma died Saturday of an undisclosed illness. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16 in the Little Brick Chapel at Hollywood Forrest Lawn Cemetery located at 6300 Forrest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles 90068. IN SEARCH OF LETI is out on DVD and can be purchased at the following chain stores: Best Buy, Target, K-Mart, etc.. I’d also like to say that the film is climbing up the Spanish Language charts (English subtitles). Again, I’d like to thank everyone that helped me with the many challenges encountered with this film.

I’m also happy to announce that my second feature film, SILENT SHAME has been casted and shooting will be taking place June 20th through July 25th all over beautiful Chicagoland. Please keep us in your prayers.

Jun. 14, 2007 - (Variety) - Ben Silverman's first major move as an NBC programmer looks a lot like something Ben Silverman the producer would have set up. Peacock has bought the rights to the muy successful Colombian telenovela "Sin tetas no hay paraiso" ("Without Breasts There is No Paradise") and is developing it as a likely primetime project.

Simulatenously, NBC sister net Telemundo will produce a Spanish-language version of the format with a different cast and script. "Sin tetas," from Colombia's Canal Caracol, focused on a young woman determined to get bigger breasts in order to escape poverty. She ends up working as a prostitute, getting involved with drug dealer in the process. Sudser is based on the novel of the same name by Gustavo Bolivar. Broadcast last fall, the skein's finale set ratings record for Colombian telenovelas, attracting nearly 7 million viewers. Silverman's last scripted hit as a producer was ABC's "Ugly Betty," which is based on another successful Colombian telenovela. FULL STORY HERE

Jun. 13, 2007 - BEVERLY HILLS (New York Times) - Producers take heart: It just got a little easier to put your hands on an Oscar. But just a little. Bruised by disputes over which of a film’s producers are entitled to a best-picture award, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, said it would now, “in a rare and extraordinary circumstance,” consider crediting more than three producers as nominees. An eight-year-old policy had limited the number of qualifying producers to three.

The new rule was adopted by the film academy’s 43-member board of governors on Tuesday night, along with revisions that will permit two production designers to be nominated for their work on a given film, among other minor changes.

The agreement to consider exceptions to the three-producer rule, though a small change, was welcomed by some of those who had been slighted by the old limitation, which at this year’s Oscar ceremony excluded two producers, Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, from awards consideration for the best-picture nominee “Little Miss Sunshine.” FULL STORY HERE
