Apple's Insomnia Film Festival for Students

On November 15 at 9:00 a.m. EST, the clock starts ticking. Apple will post the list of required elements for entries in the 2008 Insomnia Film Festival at Then you and your team will have a whole 24 hours to make and upload your 3-minute movie. All five registered team members need to be current students in the U.S. attending high school (9th through 12th grade) or an accredited college or university.

Once your movie's up, you'll need to get everyone you know—and then some—to watch and rate it online. If your movie makes the top 25, you can host a showing at the Apple Retail Store. Your adoring fans can download it from the iTunes Store. And it'll be screened by some big-time industry players: John August, Doug Ellin, Jody Hill, Masi Oka, Jason Bateman, Paul Haggis, Greg Mattola, Barry Sonnenfeld

Earn the #1 rating from either the public or the pros, and you'll land one of two grand prizes. Call for Entries: Guadalajara International Film Festival

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), the most important film festival in Latin America, which each year showcases the most intelligent and daring international films, while playing host to some 10,000 film lovers, filmmakers, journalists and industry professionals, announces its call for entries. Next spring's FICG24 runs March 19-27, 2009, and cash prizes total nearly $85,000.

Submissions to FICG24 can be feature films, documentary and short films. The final deadline for entries to the 24th Guadalajara International Film Festival is Thursday, January 8th, 2009. Please submit your film now!

1st Annual East L.A. Film Festival

The East LA Society of Film and Arts (TELA SOFA) presents the 1st Annual Film Festival and Dia de Los Muertos on October 25, 2008 at The East LA Civic Center 4801 E. Third St. Los Angeles, CA 90022. From 9AM - 11PM for the youth film festival at sundown, art, music, fashion show inspired by Frida and Diego and a look alike contest & a MOLE competition. NALIP member, screenwriter, and actress Natalia Lazarus is currently starring in the new play Malcom and Teresa, which is playing until November 16 at The Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica. It tells the story of BBC Reporter Malcolm Muggeridge’s expose of Ukrainian famine & the TV interviews with Mother Teresa that changed his life. The play is written by Cathal Gallagher, directed by Vincent Lappas, and produced by Peter Gallagher.
