Registration for Hot Docs 2011 is now open online. Hot Docs, North America's largest documentary festival, conference and market, returns April 28 - May 8, 2011, celebrating 18 years as an essential meeting place for the international documentary industry.

Call for Entries: Hollywood Film Festival

The 15th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, presented by Starz, announces their "2011 Call For Entries" for all of its categories and genres including features, documentaries, shorts, animation, drama, and comedy.

The Hollywood Film Festival will run at the state-of-the-art ArcLight Cinemas, in Hollywood. The Festival will be capped off by the annual prestigious Hollywood Awards Gala ceremony, which lauds both annual and career achievements of Hollywood's emerging and established talents.

NALIPster's doc Precious Knowledge premiering at SDLFF

NALIP member Eren Isabel McGinnis (LPA 2003) and Ari Luis Palos are premiering their feature documentary Precious Knowledge at the 2011 San Diego Latino Film Festival on Friday, March 18 at 7:30pm. Precious Knowledge illustrates what motivates Tucson High School students and teachers to form the front line of an epic civil rights battle. Synopsis: Lawmakers in Tuscon, Arizona have recently proposed legislature attempting to remove Ethnic Studies programs from public schools, stating that they propagate racist ideology. Step inside one of the classes and meet the students that now have vastly improved grades, a growing understanding of their own cultural identity, and a new sense of purpose, as well as the brilliant and caring teachers who inspire them. This timely documentary is an absolute must-see for anyone interested in the crisis in race relations in our border states.

NALIP member Ricardo Cisneros (Actor/Writer), Antonio Garcia Jr (Actor/Producer) and Daniel Hilsinger (Director) are premiering their latest short film Tolero in New York City on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Event starts at 7:00pm, screening starts at 7:45pm at "200 Orchard," 200 Orchard St., Lower East Side, NYC (Between Stanton St. & Houston St.).

Synopsis: Tolero tells the story of Marco and Felipe, and their friendship after Marco develops an obsession with someone he's never met.
