GuadaLAjara Film Festival, Oct. 12-14 in LA

In an effort to promote Latino culture while providing films rarely accessible to the community, The University of Guadalajara Foundation and The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) have carefully selected a wide variety of FICG's award winning films presented in Guadalajara to proudly showcase in the City of Los Angeles during its first annual Muestra de Cine GuadaLAjara. This free festival takes place October 12-14 in Los Angeles, and includes film screenings and panels.

11:00am Latino Screenwriters Panel

Ernie Bustamante is a WGA member and comedy writer who has
developed projects for FOX, ABC, and Nickelodeon. Most recently, he
was a staff writer on the CBS sitcom, ROB!

Nelson Soler is an award-winning writer/producer best known
for the critically acclaimed drama, Lincoln Heights, which won the
NAACP Image Award for Best Drama Series. He has recently written
pilots for ABC Family and MTV and his many television credits include
Thieves, That Was Then, Aaron Stone, The Pussycat Dolls, and The Latin
Grammys. Soler is a recipient of the ABC/Walt Disney Fellowship In
Screenwriting and the NBC Minority Writer Scholarship.

Maria Escobedo is Chair of the Latino Writers Committee of the
Writers Guild of America West. She was a writer on ABC’sGrey’s
Anatomy, wrote original movies for Lifetime, the Disney Channel,
and developed an original pilot for Nickelodeon. She also wrote and
directed the independent film, Rum and Coke. Maria has written for
Nick Jr’s Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go! and Disney Channel’s Special
Agent Oso.

Gabriel Torres Espinoza is the Director for the Universidad de
Guadalajara Televisión Abierta which can currently be accessed in Los
