Adria Arjona is in talks to play Martine, the female lead in Sony’s Morbius feature film which has Jared Leto starring. Daniel Espinosa is directing the Spider-Man Universe spinoff based on Marvel Comics’ antihero Morbius the Living Vampire.
In addition to this, Arjona has signed on for Olivier Assayas’ spy drama Wasp Network, joining Penélope Cruz, Pedro Pascal and Edgar Ramirez. Based on Fernando Morais’ book The Last Soldiers of the Cold War, the film tells the true story of Cuban spies in American territory during the 1990s, revealing the tentacles of a Florida-based terrorist network — with ramifications in Central America and with the consent of the U.S. government. Shooting is scheduled to commence early 2019.
Arjona, who made TV history as the first Latina and bilingual Dorothy in NBC’s short-lived series Emerald City, was most recently seen on the big screen in Universal’s Pacific Rim Uprising and the Melissa McCarthy-starrer Life of the Party. Repped by UTA, Anonymous Content, and Stone, Genow, Smelkinson, her upcoming projects include Netflix’s Triple Frontier with Ben Affleck and Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens series at Amazon.
