Universal Cable Productions and Televisa USA have inked a co-production pact for two dramas, “Pantera” and “Allies.”

The announcement was made Thursday by Dawn Olmstead, exec VP of development at UCP, together with Televisa USA’s Chris Philip, head of global production and distribution and COO Ryan Likes.

“Pantera,” inspired by the 1970s comic book, is a modern version of the story about a vigilante martial artist who takes on the forces of corruption in Mexico.

“Allies,” based on the Argentinian series “Aliados,” follows six individuals of different ages, races and social classes whose destinies are intertwined through the forces of the universe. The only thing they have in common, aside from their misery, is that all are destined to die at the same moment — that is, until fate intervenes and out in the cosmos, a man and woman representing the masculine and feminine energy of the universe discuss the fate of humanity.

“Both ‘Pantera’ and ‘Allies’ are unique and powerful stories, neither of which currently exist on television,” said Olmstead. “We’re thrilled to be adapting them for American audiences in collaboration with the talented team at Televisa USA.”
