What is "The San Antonio Film Series"?

The "San Antonio Film Series" is a yearlong program of screenings and workshops that will foster independent film in San Antonio. Through collaborations with the San Antonio Film Commission, local arts and community organizations as well as universities, NALIP-SA will give culturally and economically diverse communities access to independent film in ways that are not presently available. Through celebrating and including filmmakers and audiences of all backgrounds, NALIP will promote the authentic, pan-ethnic diversity that is the real jewel of independent filmmaking.

The SAFS is comprised of three individually styled events:

Meet the Maker Series

SA Film Slam

The Adelante! Fim Forum

Meet the Maker Series

The MEET THE MAKER screenings bring experienced, successful filmmakers to San Antonio to share their work and knowledge with Texan filmmakers and local audiences.  One local filmmaker will be featured the same night. This creates bridges between nationally reknown filmmakers, locally known filmmakers, and broader audiences. Our next Meet the Maker Event will be Wednesday, October 11, 2006

SA Film Slams

The SA FILM SLAMs bring a unique progressive environment disguised in a fun ambience of networking and movie-watching. Since 2002, the SA FILM SLAMs have proven to help participants improve their work after screening before a local audience. Our next film slam will be October 21, 2006

The Adelante! Fim Forum, Oct. 19-21, 2006

The ¡ADELANTE! Film Forum provides local filmmakers opportunities and access to experts from the varying aspects of filmmaking. Speakers include: Marilyn Atlas, Northrop Davis, Manuel Saldívar, Mary Lampe, Anne Lewis, Jesse Borrego, Dr. Ellen Riojas-Clark, Dr. Keta Miranda, Dr. Sonia Saldívar-Hull, and many more.
