OutSet: The Young Filmmakers Project from LA LGBT Center and Outfest

OutSet is the Young Filmmakers Project from LA LGBT Center and Outfest, a filmmaking workshop for LGBTQ young people between the ages of 16-24. Created in 2011 to create a safe space for LBGTQ young people to tell their stories and learn the skills to bring them to life in the form of a short film, 15 fellows are selected each Fall to participate and make five short films. Each fellow participates as a writer, producer or director in teams of three, paired with mentors who are professional filmmakers. The classes take place once a week and are taught by industry professionals.

Many of our alumni fellows have gone on to work in the entertainment industry or apply for film school based on their experience in OutSet.
