CALL FOR ENTRIES 2006 - NewLatino Filmmakers @ Anthology Film Archives.

The New York chapter of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP-New York) is now accepting entries for the 2006 season of its NewLatino Filmmakers screening series (see last year's screening).

Who may apply?

Emerging Latino filmmakers and producers whose work is contributing toward the face of the New Latino Film New Wave and who have not had a major commercial theatrical release. Non-Latino filmmakers/producers whose films are Latino-themed and/or whose primary subject matter touches upon the Latino/Latin American experience in a respectful manner, and who have not had a "major commercial theatrical release".

Is there a deadline?

The deadlines are ongoing and we accepted submissions all year round. We convene a panel to review submissions on a quarterly basis to accommodate the curatorial and administrative process of promoting the screenings effectively. Thus, your submission(s) will be reviewed in the "next" quarter where a panel is convened after you submit. OR during the quarter theme for which you submitted after a specific call-for-enties.

What genres and lengths are accepted?

We accept all genres (narrative, documentary and experimental). However, because we only get a limited set of screening dates each year, we thus seek to showcase several filmmakers and their films at each screening and will only consider projects whose running time is 1-hour or less. Feature-length narrative films and documentaries can also be submitted but these longer projects must demonstrate sufficient merit for a sole showcase/screening. While it is rare, we have utilized the venue for a single film/project.

Can I submit more than one film at a time for consideration?

Yes. You may submit as many preview tapes as you wish for consideration, however, only one film per filmmaker/producer will be showcased at any one screening/showcase, if selected.*

*Note: If you would like to have your "preview" VHS cassette(s) returned, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope(s) with sufficient postage for each tape submitted.

In addition to the tape submission(s), you must also provide the following info for each film:

• Director / Producer's Name(s)
• Title of Work
• Genre
• Running Time
• Year of Production
• Synopsis
• Short Bio (director)
• Contact Info
• Publicity stil or screencapture for NALIP's website and e-mail announcements (only if selected to screen)

If I am selected, what "presentation" formats can the Anthology Film Archives accommodate?

The following formats can be projected at Anthology:

35mm, 16mm, Beta SP, DVD, Mini DV.

What are the 2006 Newlatino Filmmakers screening dates?

• MARCH 22, 2006: "DIRT" a feature film by NANCY SAVOCA

• MAY 3, 2006: RAZA de ORO: A Pre Cinco de Mayo Film Celebration (Theme). Submission deadline: March 31, 2006.

Additional screening dates announced soon (all Wednesdays).

Is there an application/administrative fee?

There is currently no fee to apply, but that may change in the future.

All screenings will take place at:
