VP, Production & Programming at MTV TR3

MTV TR3, is seeking a VP, Production & Programming. The Vice President will be responsible for driving the overall strategy and defining the operational direction for production and program scheduling. This individual will develop and execute on programming roll-out plans and launch schedules while also overseeing acquisitions. S/he will be a key member of the executive management team, and be responsible for bringing a steady flow of quality and cost effective ideas, projects and formats to the network. This is a demanding job which will require extensive experience in programming, staff management, budget control and strategic development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Overall responsibility for all production & programming output for TR3’s, including on-air, off-air, digital and mobile.
- Responsibility for the execution of all programming details including look & feel and overall quality
- Evaluate and recommend changes/business and revenue generating opportunities to network programming
- Develop and execute strategic business and operational plans, projects, programs and systems
- Ensure that a cohesive programming strategy is in place and is clearly articulated throughout the organization.
- Facilitate the implementation of channel strategy via close partnerships with MTVN affiliate marketing, press, online, consumer marketing, on-air promotions, digital, off-air creative, research, promotions marketing, traffic, standards & practices and the ancillary business divisions.
- Represent plans & strategy to senior management via presentations and in meetings.
- Monitor shifts in viewership patterns and incorporate information as it affects overall programming strategy.
- Provide ongoing evaluation of programming marketplace and best practices.
- Manage all digital content and mobile offerings
- Manage programming staff; providing career guidance and clear development opportunities.
- Responsible for scheduling all programs, series, stunts, theme weeks and cornerstone events.
- Responsible for company-wide communication of program planning information to ensure adequate lead time for press, marketing, promotion, etc.
- Manage the large amount of original & acquired programming resulting in the most effective scheduling.
- Responsible for generating creative original programming and acquisition ideas and spotting program opportunities.
- Tracking all competitive scheduling including basic cable and broadcast networks.
- Compile the competitive entertainment industry information and distribute to the executive team.

Skills

- 10 or more years of experience in increasingly responsible management positions where excellent performance and employee management skills have been emphasized

- Extensive production and programming experience across multiple platforms.

- Strong project management skills with ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines

- Experience overseeing both scripted and non-scripted programming, with an eye for low budgets.

Latino Film Organization Seeks Interns

The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), is an organization committed to increasing the quality and quantity of images by and about Latinos, and supporting the advancement, development and funding of Latino media artists in all genres.  We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic office and membership interns for this spring.
 
Intern candidates should have excellent office skills, administrative experience as well as a strong interest in Film/Television and the Latino Community. Typical intern duties include, but are not limited to: assisting the Membership Coordinator with membership services, data entry, handling telephone calls, e-mail and online communication, office management, and general project support for ongoing NALIP Signature Programs that include the National Conference as well as the Latino Media Resource Guide. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not required.

This internship is an unpaid, part-time position, although we are happy to support school credit and fellowship opportunities where applicable.

OVERALL SUMMARY
Reports to the Production's Line Producer / MFI Production Executive

Responsibilities
Responsible for calculating finances, costing productions, liaising with financiers, and controlling the cash flow to ensure that payments are made on time, and in accordance with agreements and approved budgets. Accountant must contribute to the probity of the production. During pre-production, Production Accountants assist the Producers and Production Managers to prepare budgets and Estimated Final Cost Reports.

During production, accountant shall evaluate and approve all purchase requisitions and organize VAT and registrations; oversee payments, support manage payroll management company, petty cash and foreign currency and keep accurate financial records; help monitor budgets, and analyze costs and expenditure; and provide daily or weekly cost reports, as well as cost forecasts that evaluate the financial impact of any production changes.

Responsible for the health, safety and security of the Accountancy section, as well as being a part of the wider team that manages the delivery of film projects.

Must set up and maintain accounting systems, and supervise Assistant Accountants and Accounts Trainees. This involves setting work objectives, standards and outcomes, and continuously monitoring performance. Depending on how the film is financed, Production Accountants may also have to deal with bank finance and completion guarantors. They need to ensure that all the necessary paperwork is available in order to prepare accurate, timely cost reports.

Production Accountant must prepare a Statement of Account detailing all income and expenditure, for the Producer or Production Company and the financiers, and finalize all financial records relating to the production; may also have to arrange an independent audit by Mockingbird Films International of the production to which attached. Production Accountants may work in collaboration with MFI Senior Accountants/Financial Controller.

When a Studio (a large film company that finances many films a year) is involved, either through a distribution deal, or by providing direct finance for the production, Production Accountants also work in collaboration with Studio Finance Executives, who set the parameters within which Production Accountants must operate. Individual studios may have their own Film Production Accountant Manual, which Production Accountants must follow.

Skills
Production Accountants must possess a thorough working knowledge of filmmaking processes; need strong improvisational and interpersonal communication skills, and must be able to prioritize jobs effectively within a fast-paced environment. Production Accountants must be able to take the initiative, learn quickly, and work with discretion, in order to maintain absolute confidentiality. Skills specific to the role include expertise in accountancy software package and budgeting and scheduling software.

Qualifications/Experience
Film Production Accountants should have minimum a BA in Accounting, combined with a number of years' experience in the film industry. The exact level of qualification and experience required depends on the size and scale of each specific production; however, Film Production Accountants applicants need a proven track record, in order to secure the approval of the Financiers, Completion Guarantors and Studios involved in the Film Production.
