NALIP MIAMI & OLAFEST

Nalip and OlaFest want to thank our Governor Jeb Bush, our Film Commisioner Paul Sirmons and the Office of Film and Entertainment for sponsoring the Nalip event at Ola Fest on Sunday February 19th, 2006.  After our commissioner quoted that “Hispanic/Latino film and television is growing in Florida.  As it grows, it brings a positive economic impact on our state and it’s citizens” he gave the floor to Maritza Guimet who at 2:30 PM explained to a group of participants about NALIP’s mission statement and the chapter development.  She included that developing a start-up committee from 5-7 individuals to develop a statement that will aid and expand professional development opportunities for Latino-Media makers and their supporters in Florida.  By 3:30 PM we had enough members and a letter of intent was signed for the launching of Orlando Nalip Chapter, which will be lead by Nelson Betancourt.  NALIP's mission is to promote the advancement, development and funding of Latino/Latina film and media arts in all genres.  NALIP is the only national organization   committed to supporting both grassroots and community-based producers/media makers along with publicly funded and industry-based producers.
