Conference 8 Overview
The National Association of Latino Independent Producers’ Conference 8 will be a 3-day meeting of the minds for Latino/a content producers and those trying to reach them.  NALIP invites you to dig into the Mobile Media revolution, and examine how it affects independent Latino/a film, television, and documentary producers, performers, directors, writers, students, media artists, advocates and educators.
 
For the past seven years, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers has gathered the field of Latino/a Film, Television, Documentary and New Media makers: producers, directors, writers, performers, creative crew, funders, distributors, representatives, students, educators and activists for a critical look at Latinos in front of and behind the camera, plus those in executive suites and decision-making positions.  
 
Our National Conference provides an opportunity to consider the state of the field during a dynamic weekend of professional seminars, hands-on workshops, provocative keynote addresses, screenings of member work, networking events and celebrations of our latest accomplishments.  
 
This year, MEDIA ON THE MOVE: POWER FOR INDEPENDENTS runs March 8 – 11, 2007 at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa in Newport Beach, CA.  HBO and the National Latino Media Council present this year’s Conference, co-chaired by NALIP Board members, EVANGELINE GRIEGO (SIR! NO SIR!) and RICK RAMIREZ (FOX), along with PANCHO MANSFIELD (SPIKE TV).
 
Saturday Gala Evening: Celebrity Hosts, Music & 5 Honors  
Lifetime Achievement in Advocacy goes to Actor, Director and Activist, Edward James Olmos.  Four other awards will also be awarded in the areas of Outstanding Achievement, Lifetime/Pioneer Achievement, and the ESTELA Award to recognize two rising and brilliant talents in the Latino media landscape in the areas of Narrative and Documentary filmmaking.
 
Our mission is simple: promote the advancement, development and funding of Latino/a film and media arts in all genres.  As professionals, we unite to create more images by and about Latinos everywhere you see media.
