Cesar’s Last Fast Free Screening @ DYD San Francisco

Directed by Richard Ray Perez, CESAR’S LAST FAST is an insightful documentary film about the intense sacrifice and deep spiritual conviction behind Cesar Chavez’s life­long struggle for the humane treatment of America’s farm workers, and the untold chapter in the story of civil rights in America.

Join us at the Ninth Street Independent Film Center in San Francisco, CA for a free screening of Cesar’s Last Fast. Following the film, Richard Ray Perez will discuss his work in a live Q&A.

This screening is made possible by the NEA Media Arts, the University of Arizona Hanson Film Institute, ITVS, Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program, the Center for Asian American Media, Latino Public Broadcasting, the Ninth Street Independent Film Center, and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers.

Kicking off with a community screening, Doing Your Doc: Diverse Voices, Regional Visions is a  3-day regional documentary development/production seminars for Latino/a, African American, Native/Pacific Islanders, Asian, Middle Eastern, LGBTQ, and regional documentary makers in communities traditionally under-served by professional mentoring and information. The artists participating in this program are producing personal, community, social justice, and public media documentaries that reflect their experiences, and tell the stories of their regions and cultures. Now in its 8th year, this professional development program is designed to support individual media artist’s projects with skills instruction, relationship building, and artist mentoring. DYD also builds community between NALIP and local arts and cultural organizations, and amongst the local nonprofits and artists.

The Friday, September 12th screening is free and open to the community.
