Carlos Slim to launch TV channel in the US
Last Tuesday America Movil announced that its owner, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim will launch a TV channel in the US directed to Mexican audiences. Nuestra Vision would be the first 100% Mexican channel “made by Mexicans, for Mexicans and transmitted from Mexico” and aims to reach every age group with its programming.
The slate will include the most extensive library of Mexican films on TV with over 2,000 titles, as well as news from Uno TV featuring newscasters and reporters from Mexico, and sports highlights from Claro Sports.
Nuestra Vision will enter the US broadcast market competing directly with established Latino broadcasters Univision and Telemundo. More competition could mean more opportunities for Latino content creators, so we’re excited to see what Slim’s new channel has to offer to their audiences.
