Prime Latino Media Salon, Aug. 8 in NYC

NALIP-NY and Tio Louie invite you to the Prime Latino Media Salon, a monthly series for Latino multimedia-makers and actors in the metro-New York area. The next event is Wed., August 8 from 6:30-10pm. This month's program features conversations with filmmakers Kisha Tikina Burgos, Ari Maniel Cruz, and Zoe Salicrup Junco, with clips from their films that are premiering at NYILFF.

6:30pm: Networking and Cash Bar.

7:30pm: An air-conditioned FIRESIDE CHAT by Tio Louie with Kisha Tikina Burgos, screenwriter, producer and actress of the feature film "Under My Nails" and her husband, Ari Maniel Cruz, director & producer of the film.

8:30pm: Tio Louie CONVERSATION with Zoe Salicrup Junco, writer and director of the short film GABI that was her thesis film at NYU, under the guidance of Academy Award Nominee Susan Seidelman and garnered her NYU's 2012 First Run Film Festival King Screenwriting Award, the Wasserman Directing Award, and the National Board of Review Student Grant.

Location: Casa Mezcal, 86 Orchard Street, basement lounge, Obra Negra, bet Delancey & Grand St.  Top notch restaurant located upstairs serves "best Mexican food in Manhattan."

Kisha Tikina Burgos
Writer, actress, educator and producer, she has an MFA in Dramatic Writing with a concentration in Screenwriting at TISCH School of the Arts, NYU, Graduate Studies in the Acting Department of Mason Gross School of the Arts in Rutgers University (Sanford Meisner Technique Acting Training) and Screenwriting Workshop in the International School of Film and TV in San Antonio de los Banos, Cuba. She is part of the CUNY Faculty in The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Hostos Community College. She has produced plays in Puerto Rico and acted in theater in NY. Her feature film won a Special Award presented by the Festival President at the Havana Film Festival in December and won The Best Individual Performance at Cine Las Americas International Film Festival-Austin, TX.

Ari Maniel Cruz
In 2004 he co-directed, co-produced and co-wrote the acclaimed mini-series "Barrios" for the Corporation of Puerto Rico for the Public Broadcasting, WIPR. From 2005 to 2007, Ari Maniel co-hosted the prime time television show "Cultura Viva", also for WIPR. His special report "Oso Blanco" earned the show an Emmy Award in the Sun Coast Chapter in 2007. He also directed the documentaries "El Enigma de Mariano Faria" and "Los Zagales, and the WIPR's new year's eve TV special "El brindis del bohemio". From 2007 to 20011 he worked in New York City as an Executive Producer and TV host for V-ME, a US National Television Network in Spanish.

Zoe Salicrup Junco
She graduated with a BFA in Film and TV and a Minor in Producing from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She has collaborated in more than fifteen short films as a writer, director, and producer and completed 3 short films, Forgive & Forget (NY), Pickpockets (Czech Republic), and GABI (Puerto Rico). She was named "The Independent" Magazine's top 10 filmmakers to watch in 2012. Zoe continues to write the feature-length version of GABI.
