NALIP Austin Workshops for Actors and Screenwriters

NALIP Austin presents two workshops for actors and screenwriters with LA manager Marilyn Atlas on Sunday, June 24.

WORKSHOP 1:
Creating Memorable Characters- For Actors and Screenwriters
3:00 - 5:00pm
We will discuss and analyze scenes from movies and TV shows, as well as read  scenes from  movies as they apply to creating THREE DIMENSIONAL NON STEREOTYPICAL (this word is key) Characters. Teacher will be giving out handouts to assist writers/ and actors.

WORKSHOP 2:
Secrets of Auditioning/Understanding the Business Side of Acting
6:00 - 7:30pm
Discuss HEADSHOTS, knowing your type, building a career, biz in LA.

BIO: An award-winning producer and personal manager, Marilyn R. Atlas is equally at home in the worlds of film, television, and live theater. Among her credits as film producer are "Real Women Have Curves" for HBO, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, "A Certain Desire," starring Sam Waterston, and "Echoes," which won the Gold Award at the 1991 Texas International Film Festival. 

Marilyn has also served as Casting Director for feature films, including John Frankenheimer's "The Equals" and "The Whiz."  She is a founding member of Women in Film's Luminas Committee which supports the portrayal of women in non-stereotypical roles in film and television. 

Currently, Marilyn is working on a development slate that includes "Lola Goes to Roma," "Brides' March" for Lifetime Television, "Perfekt Kill," and reworking a pilot originally sold to Showtime.  Marilyn sold "Bitterroot," an MOW, to Hallmark.  Additionally, Ms. Atlas will be producing a musical adaptation of "Real Women" for the Broadway stage.
