Project Synopsis:
When Isabel Rodriguez, an overwhelmed Latina matriarch too busy to analyze her unhappiness, discovers her husband’s latest affair, she moves out of her house and has an affair of her own with an old college flame. This gives her husband Antonio a bitter taste of his own medicine. In a desperate attempt to win her back, Antonio fakes a suicide, and manages to scare himself enough to have a very real heart attack. Isabel’s family then demands that she leave her lover and come back to take care of her husband, which she does, only to learn about Antonio’s latest deception. Isabel is miserable, and ultimately must decide whether she will cave in to the arguments of her children and spouse, or strike out again with her newfound freedom.
Project Synopsis:
Animas is a supernatural thriller taking place at the Portales hacienda, in the town of Animas, Mexico. One day, Luisa, a skeptic at heart, receives a message from her childhood friend, Silvia, asking her to come to Mexico to help her complete a novel. Silvia has an unknown illness that is slowly killing her and it is her final death wish to finish her book. Silvia tells Luisa that she has been urged on by the ghost of her great grandmother, Doña Ana, to reveal the tainted past of the village, and the tragedy involving a century-old genocide caused by Don Guillermo, a powerful man in his time who made a fortune from silver mining. Doña Ana was forced to marry Don Guillermo and later discovered that he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people, including her fiancé. Overcome with anger, she kills Don Guillermo and his final words are a curse to her and her successors promising never to leave her alone even after death. To help her friend finish the novel, Luisa must regain the faith she once had, and abandon her skeptical views in order to put an end to the dark force of Don Guillermo’s curse.

It is a brutally hot summer in Miami. Josh’s Jewish mother has just started a romance with Mike, a charming black man who also happens to be a violent drunk and crack addict. He torments the family but also introduces 12-year-old Josh to his first love: baseball. He practices with the boy day and night to mold him into the next Alex Rodriguez. The training isn’t just reserved for the field. As Mike says, ‘you have to look the part before you can be the part.’ He takes Josh to Star Island to admire the mansions and for test drives in Ferraris to show him all that awaits him if he follows the ‘gameplan.’ But Mike is not the only one with plans for Josh. His long lost grandfather Solomon, one of New York’s most successful businessmen, has re-entered the picture and has agreed to give Josh’s struggling waitress mom money on one condition: Josh has a Bar Mitzvah. Helping him along the way is Rabbi Brookstein, a hip New York Jew and baseball fanatic, who becomes his moral compass. Callused Hands tells the story of one boy’s journey into manhood over the most important summer of his life as he tries to navigate between winning a Little League championship and having a Bar Mitzvah, while avoiding the wrath of his abusive step-father.

Rent is going up, hipsters are moving in, but the week will always be the week. Or will it? For years, Willy Jr.’s Sports Bar has been the hot spot on Broadway where you could grab a drink, catch the latest gossip, and bitch about the Mets. But now, Willy Jr.’s may be forced to close. Along with his friends, Willy Jr. designs a plan to keep the sports bar away from his scheming ex, bring the barrio back in, and restore the spot to its former glory.
Project Synopsis:
Twelve-year-old Sebastian lives in the Costa Rican Caribbean. His parents are in the midst of a divorce, causing his father to move out and leaving him feeling extremely bitter towards his mother, whom he holds responsible for the separation. His mother is a strong, hard working woman who owns a modest restaurant where she also works as a cook and waitress. Sebastian’s grandfather, whom he considers his only ally in the family, plays on a timeworn, beautiful antique piano twice a week to attract customers. One night, while Sebastian waits for his mother at the restaurant, he sees her kissing another man. Infuriated by this, he decides to retaliate by giving the restaurant’s keys to a burglar without realizing that this would result in the theft of his family’s precious piano. Feeling guilty, Sebastian decides to bring the piano back to his family. After some investigation, he discovers that it was sent to San José, the capital. He enlists the help of his twenty-five year old friend who owns a van, and plans to drive and get it. The friends embark on a detective hunt to rescue the piano, and after several days of mishaps, the piano returns home.
Project Synopsis:
When Sicilia turns eighteen and moves out of her oppressive home to go to college, she begins dressing like a putana and dating as many boys as she can. She soon falls for the enigmatic Esteban, but as Este’s protective jealousy creeps into their relationship, Sicilia refuses to give up her boys on the side. Esteban counters by entertaining an impressive second string of his own. Their relationship becomes a twisted and comic dance as Esteban finally takes matters into his own hands: he and his friends begin killing Sicilia’s exes. Sicilia soon realizes that Esteban is responsible for the killings, but sees them as a show of his love, and falls even more deeply in love with him. As they head for the altar, the dysfunctional duo is swept into a wild series of killings.
Project Synopsis:
Lena is seven months pregnant and broke. She is in a complicated relationship with Hector and moves with him to New York, leaving her son behind in Brazil. Fran, Lena’s friend, takes in Hector and Lena when they arrive. Unbeknownst to Lena, Fran sells and abuses cocaine. This discovery disturbs her volatile relationship with Hugo. In an attempt to salvage the good in her life, Lena decides to return to Brazil to be with her son. But once there, she loses custody of him, and her family and friends turn their backs on her. Lena is forced to return to New York and to a relationship with Hugo that is beyond repair. When Hugo’s best friend overdoses and Fran's self-destruction worsens, Lena is left stranded and alone, and must give birth, by herself. But this baby will force her to take control of her own life once and for all.
