Pangea Day: The First Global Campfire
May 10, 2008 is Pangea Day - a worldwide event that helps people see themselves in others through the power of film.
Created by Jehane Noujaim, award-winning Pangea Day documentary filmmaker of Control Room, through a grant awarded with the prestigious TED prize, Pangea Day links venues from all over the world to produce a four hour program of powerful films, visionary speakers and inspiring music.
The events will be broadcast live through the internet, television, digital cinemas and mobile phones, reaching people in countries around the globe at the same time.
Individuals and organizations are organizing local screenings of Pangea Day. NALIP will hold a screening in Santa Fe, New Mexico as part of our Sixth National Latino Writers Lab. Twenty writers from six states, and six mentor/instructors will be in Santa Fe, May 7 - 11, as part of this Signature Program intensive.
We hope that you check out this unique and vital global event, organize a house party or just visit online at www.PangeaDay.org

Call for Entries: Josiah Youth Media Festival
In 2006, Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented and prolific media artist from San Antonio, Texas, passed away as a result of Osteosarcoma, a cancer of the bone. In his short twenty years with us, Josiah expanded the lives of those who knew him through his brilliance, his joy and his determination to create outstanding works in the midst of the pain and physical ravages from this disease.
In honor of this artist, who only wanted to share his wonderment with the world around us, his parents, Marcus and Nancy Neundorf with the URBAN-15 Group have created the Josiah Youth Media Festival , an annual event designed to showcase outstanding works by young film, video and media artists.
Postmark deadline for entries is June 1, 2008
The three-day event will take place at the URBAN-15 Studio in San Antonio, Texas on July 10, 11 and 12, 2008. In addition to screenings, there will be opportunities for critiques, panel discussions and product demonstrations.
