 Funding for Indie Productions: Linking Independents and Co-Producing Stations
LINCS from Independent Television Service (ITVS) provides completion funding in the form of matching funds up to $100,000 for collaborations between public TV stations and indie producers. Projects must already be in production as evidenced by a work-in-progress tape of at least five minutes. LINCS is looking for documentaries and innovative genre combinations. Only single shows of standard broadcast length (26:40 or 56:40) are eligible - no series. Programs should stimulate civic discourse and find innovative ways to explore regional, cultural, political, social or economic issues. Indie film and videomakers are encouraged to seek collaborations with their local public TV stations. Deadline: May 30, 2008

 Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival, March 7-9
Festival will be held March 7th – 9th at the Landmark Theatre
The first ever Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival (LABRFF) kicks off on March 7 at 6:30 p.m. The Opening Night Gala will include red carpet festivities, the world premiere of Bellini and the Devil from Brazilian Director Marcelo Galvão, and a special ceremony honoring Thereza Maria Machado Quintella, the Brazilian Consul of the Consulate of Brazil in Los Angeles. Actor Fabio Assunção will attend the red carpet event on March 7, and Brazilian rap singer MV Bill will attend the screening of Falcon – Boys of Traffic (Falcão - Meninos do Tráfico), a documentary he directed based on his best selling book of the same name.
LABRFF 2008 will host the World Premiere of three feature films, the most ever for the festival, including: Bellini and the Devil, dir. Marcelo Galvão, Adagio Sostenuto, dir. Pompeu Aguiar and Big Game, dir. Steven Dieveney.
LABRFF will also host fourteen US Premieres the most ever for the festival including: The Grain, dir. Petrus Cariry, A lot of ice and two fingers of water, dir. Daniel Filho, Just for today, dir. Roberto Santucci, The Sound of Rio- Brasileirinho, dir. Mika Kaurismäki, Jogo de Cena, dir. Eduardo Coutinho, Sem controle, dir. Julio Uchoa, The Passenger- Adult Secrets, dir. Flavio Tambellini, The Island of the Earthbuster, dir. Ariane Porto, Mandinga in Manhattan, dir. Lazaro Faria, Falcon- boys of traffic, dir. MV Bill, The man who dared the devil, dir. Luiz Carlos Barreto.
