 Chapter/Membership Forum at NALIP Pre-Conference 9

NALIP invites you to travel early to Conference 9 and discuss the state of Membership and Chapters. This forum is open to ALL members, Chapter leaders or organizers: not just 2 per chapter. The discussion will be dynamic, informative, productive and essential for all local, regional and national leadership at NALIP.
Please join this important Forum on Thursday, March 6, 2-6 pm at the Conference Hotel, the Laguna Cliffs Marriott. Should we HAVE Chapters? How do you need to start or reinvigorate a Chapter? What does the National organization do for membership and regional groups? Why are Chapters helpful for your professional development? What kind of leadership is necessary to maintain a great Chapter? And anything else you want to discuss with NALIP Board and Staff.

 Seed Grants for Indigenous Filmmakers
The All Roads Film Project is a National Geographic initiative created to provide an international platform for indigenous and underrepresented minority-culture artists to share their cultures, stories, and perspectives through the power of film and photography. All Roads includes a film festival, photography program, and seed grant program.
The All Roads Seed Grant Program funds film projects by and about indigenous and underrepresented minority-culture filmmakers from all reaches of the globe. The program seeks filmmakers who bring their lives and communities to light through first-person storytelling. The grant program is open to indigenous and under-represented minority culture filmmakers, as well as filmmakers who can demonstrate that they have been designated by indigenous or minority communities to tell their story.
Grants range up to a maximum of $10,000 each.

 International Documentary Challenge Returns to Hot Docs
After a sold-out screening in 2007, The International Documentary Challenge returns to Hot Docs in April 2008! Registration for the 3rd annual Doc Challenge, held March 6-10, 2008, opens on January 7, 2008. The Doc Challenge is a timed filmmaking competition where filmmakers from around the world have just 5 days to make a short non-fiction film. Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, the Presenting Partner, will once again host the theatrical premiere of the finalists and the awards ceremony during the Festival. After the premiere of the finalists, showcases of regionally produced films will be held, including an IDA sponsored screening in Los Angeles, a SILVERDOCS sponsored screening in Washington DC, a Big Sky Documentary Film Festival screening in Montana, a DOC sponsored screening in Toronto, a Northwest Film Forum sponsored screening in Seattle, a Film Action Oregon sponsored screening in Portland and many more! Additionally, a Best of DVD will be released and television distribution will be pursued by a distribution partner.

The Imagen Foundation is inviting Latino independent producers to join them in their booth at NATPE. If you have projects to sell or want to network with television distribution executives or attend the myriad of media oriented sessions, then this is where you should be. The National Association of Television Production Executives (NATPE) Conference is being held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel from January 29-31 in Las Vegas.

 LatinoReview Launches Online Screening Series with NALIPster Short
LatinoReview(LR) announced today it's launch of a monthly film screening series with exclusive content on their website. Every month, the website will launch and exhibit a selected short film and unveil this never-before-seen content in it's entirety on the LatinoReview site. To embark on this event, the first inaugural short for the new year and the month of January is the anime RED PRINCESS BLUES ANIMATED: THE BOOK OF VIOLENCE.
LatinoReview who has reviewed many films in the past; decided this time they would switch it up and provide an opportunity for filmmakers to display their short films. LR has always been able to provide exclusive interviews and reviews, but with the added content, this is sure to provide passage way for films that may not in the normal route obtain notoriety through regular media outlets. LR will launch once a month a short film that has not been viewed online before alongside with intimate review. This month's film will be reviewed by LR's notorious "El Mayimbe". At this time LR is accepting submissions of short films. Only one film will be selected per month.
The short film RED PRINCESS BLUES ANIMATED: THE BOOK OF VIOLENCE (RPB) is written and produced by NALIPster Alex Ferrari. Making his directorial debut is Dan Cregan. RPB is an animated short film prequel to Ferrari's feature film RED PRINCESS BLUES. The tale is about twelve year old girl who finds herself in a strange country looking for her father. She is taken in by a unique looking man who goes by Nino. The short film is narrated from the view of the girl and the things she is going through. She soon discovers the "Book of Violence" and the beginning of her journey that leads to vengeance.
