Two Latinas Make Paley Center for Media's "She Made It" List
The Paley Center for Media (formerly The Museum of Television & Radio) today announced the names of fifty new honorees for She Made It: Women Creating Television and Radio—the major initiative launched in 2005 to celebrate the achievements of creative and business women in the industries of television, radio, and new media. Spanning the generations from early trailblazers to current innovators, She Made It honors writers, directors, producers, journalists, sportscasters, and executives by preserving the legacy of these women who have had an enormous impact on the media. This year two Latinas are honored: Maria Hinojosa and Salma Hayek. A complete list of the 2007 She Made It honorees is available online.
1211 Pictures Previews Latino Films Online
Frank Aragon, the Owner/CEO of 1211 Pictures Entertainment announced today that they will release all films in sneak preview on their website for free. We want to build an audience base that knows our work and likes it! The films include My Fathers Love, Hollywood Familia, and Boyle Heights. The feature films are all Latino based but in English.
The company is aiming specifically at an American Latino audience. The films will also be available for sale in high quality Blue-Ray DVD at a nominal price for those interested in owning it as part of their library. It's been a pretty dry season for the largely untapped English speaking Latino market representing over 9 billion dollars in strength.
"We are a small company, a tiny fish in a giant ocean but we can swim, and we will even if we are limited financially, we will do what ever it takes to do this in a bigger way" says Frank Aragon, who is also the writer/producer/director of their current film "God, Greed and the American Dream."
