Chivas and NALIP Invite You To Celebrate Our Espíritu de Progreso - Wednesday Evening, Dec. 12 (LA)
Espíritu de Progreso Latino is a philanthropic program, sponsored by Chivas Regal Scotch, that supports community based organizations, such as NALIP, that foster job training programs which motivate and elevate the spirit of progress within the Latino community.
Espíritu de Progreso Latino and NALIP are holding a holiday celebration in Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 12 at the incredible Chivas Studio. This traveling lounge is in Los Angeles for a limited time, so we hope that you'll join us for an evening of great food, drinks, tunes from DJ Santi, and carnival flair!
Chivas, Espíritu de Progreso and NALIP invite those with a passion for living to The Chivas Studio.
A $5 donation will be collected at the door. All proceeds will benefit NALIP.

 Scholars and Practitioners in the Field of Tolerance Education
We are pleased to announce that the ICTE is now accepting applications for the 2008-09 cycle of its International Guest Program. Many of you have already met with our International Guests in the past and know the outstanding individuals we select for this unique opportunity.
For those of you who are not familiar, each year the International Guest Program welcomes 20-25 human rights leaders and peace educators primarily from the Global South. These activists come for a 2-3 month residency in Brooklyn, working within the ICTE community. The program aims to support each guest's commitment to empowering local communities in the promotion of tolerance, human rights, respect for diversity and social justice. Individualized work plans are created with the guests that involve networking, professional skills training, opportunities to present their work, and time to reflect on their ongoing efforts.
This year, we are placing a special emphasis on "Scholars and Practitioners in the field of Tolerance Education". Therefore, we are reaching out to all of you in the field and in academia. Please pass these guidelines along to your colleagues who you feel are interested and qualified for the program. The guidelines can be found on our website: http://www.seedsoftolerance.org/fgp.html

Panelist include CUNY Immigration Clinic, Immigration Coalition, New York State Citizenship Unit.
Topics to be covered in the evening performance:
1. Economic Development and Workers Rights.
Speaker will be from Make The Road New York.
Promotes economic justice, equity and opportunity for all New Yorkers through community and electoral organizing, strategic policy advocacy, leadership development, youth and adult education, and high quality legal and support services.
2. The Border and The Human Story.
Speaker will be from Esperanza Del Barrio.
Works to build an empowered immigrant community that is equipped with knowledge of their rights, pride in their cultural heritage, and information on economical survival.
3. The Dream Act.
Speaker will be from The New York State Youth Leadership Program.
The YLC is a network of young advocates representing high schools, colleges, communities of faith and community-based organizations committed to promoting the advancement of immigrant youth through non-violent means, leadership development and advocacy.
4. AIDS and Health.
Speakers will be from Latino Commission on Aids and Mexicanos Unidos.
The Latino Commission on AIDS is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Latino community. The Commission realizes its mission by spearheading health advocacy for Latinos, promoting HIV education, developing model prevention programs for high-risk communities, and by building capacity in community organizations.
Mexicanos Unidos uses art, the Mexican culture and traditions and other forms to promote the prevention of HIV/AIDS as well as to encourage solidarity and understanding towards people who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
