REELOT.COM PRSENTS WRITER OPPORTUNITY TO LWL AND NALIP

On May 6, 2007 John Contrubis and Sindy Gordon presented REELot to members and mentors participating in the NALIP Writers Lab in New York.  They stressed the importance of networking and perseverance, which were the inspirations behind REELot.  In addition, members were shown how linking to the NALIP Affiliate page could further promote and expose their work.  The great thing about the site is writers have many options when using it.  Once registered, the writer's profile page can be used to attract industry professionals, market projects, store work and communicate with fellow members and accredited industry users.  A lively discussion about marketing, promotion and the unique challenges facing new writers followed.  The response from participants was very positive and John and Sindy encouraged them to continue to keep in touch and provide feedback to make the site even stronger.  Several NALIP members have since become a part of the REELot community.

BAT Entertainment Inc. announced the launch of REELot.com, a website designed to assist writers in networking, marketing and organizing their work.  Co-Founders John Contrubis, Esq. and Sindy Gordon were members of the WGA East Executive Staff before forming BAT Entertainment, Inc. in April 2006. 

REELot.com (beta) is a FREE, interactive service designed for writers (film, tv, novels, plays, etc.), filmmakers and industry professionals.  REELot provides the exposure needed to market projects and promote individuals. It can also be used as a portfolio to store both completed work and works-in-progress - all of which can be protected by an access code.

 “REELot is for aspiring, emerging and established writers and filmmakers.  We provide them with the tools to market their work and promote their careers.  One terrific feature we’ve introduced is REEL Video, which allows our members to create a video pitch for each of their projects.  We believe that REEL Video will create a new entrée for which writers and filmmakers present their work to industry professionals,” stated Contrubis.

Members who identify with a particular group or organization can select that affiliate in order to be listed among its writers and filmmakers.  When NALIP members register and select the NALIP box their profile page will automatically be linked to the NALIP affiliate page.  This feature offers NALIP members greater exposure and access.

“The site is self-financed and we are running it at no charge.  It sounds crazy, but we're dedicated to promoting writers.  Setting up a project on REELot will help motivate writers from their initial idea to the final draft,” notes Gordon.  “A great feature we’ve incorporated is an internal email system to keep track of incoming and outgoing emails from fellow writers and REELot Pros.  The ‘Contact Writer’ feature facilitates correspondence without revealing addresses.”

Once you're registered, set up your PROFILE and at least one PROJECT to get the ball rolling.  Take a look at http://reelot.com/writer/SindyGordon (the personal URL is recognized by search engines like Google) to see what a profile looks like and how projects are listed.  Having a completed script or even a draft isn't necessary to get your project started; treatments or scripts - from one page to completion – can be uploaded.  You control the access within each project and determine the type of access for any item you upload.  That gives you the power to attract viewers with your title, logline and synopsis while maintaining control over who gets to download the material.

The more writers and filmmakers that read scripts and provide feedback the better the script becomes.  REELot provides the foundation for creating a community of writers and filmmakers who can help each other with scripts and networking.  REELot will even put up trailers and link them to writer profiles.

WES ANDERSON'S "DARJEELING" TO OPEN 45TH NEW YORK FILM FESTIVAL

Jun. 27, 2007 - (indieWIRE) - Wes Anderson's "The Darjeeling Limited," will open the 45th New York Film Festival, the Film Society of Lincoln Center announced Wednesday evening. Joel and Ethan Coen's Cannes '07 competition feature "No Country for Old Men," meanwhile, will be the festival's Centerpiece screening, while Palme d'Or winner "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu and Lee Chang-dong's Korean feature "Secret Sunshine," starring Cannes best actress-winner, Jeon Do-yeon are also joining the lineup at this year's NYFF, taking place September 28 - October 14. Starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman, "The Darjeeling Limited" is described as "an emotional comedy about three brothers re-forging family bonds on a train ride across the vibrant and sensual landscape of India." "DIE HARD" DEBUTS WITH $9 MILLION

Jun. 28, 2007 - (Variety) - Bruce Willis starrer "Live Free or Die Hard" took an estimated $9.1 million on its first day, giving renewed shine to the long-absent 20th Century Fox franchise. Willis scored the best first-day opening for a live-action pic he's toplined since Michael Bay's 1998 "Armageddon" ($9.7 million in its July 1, 1998 bow), according to Rentrak. "Armageddon" had an advantage in that it opened one week later over the July Fourth holiday frame. "Live Free" made more on its first day than any of the three previous "Die Hard" installments. Fox decided to open the film midweek to make way for Bay's "Transformers," which begins playing in theaters Monday night before officially opening Tuesday. FULL STORY HERE

FINAL CUT PRO TECH/TAPE OPERATOR AT POST FACILITY

Post Production facility seeks an enthusiastic individual for its tech department. Position to be filled ASAP.

Responsibilities include building turnkey Final Cut Pro edit systems, trouble shooting client edit systems in house and on-site, digitizing and Edit To Tape in our HD On-line edit bays and any and all things related to FCP.

Must be dependable and self motivated, works well with clients and willing to learn and adapt to the ever growing and changing world of Post Productions. Some experience with Final Cut Pro or as a tape operator is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right individual if needed.

NATIONAL HISPANIC MEDIA COALITION (NHMC) INTERNSHIPS

The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a non-profit organization established in 1986 in Los Angeles, California.  The organization has grown to have statewide chapters in New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Phoenix, AZ; Sacramento and San Diego, CA; Atlanta, GA; and Detroit, MI.  Our mission is to 1) improve the image of American Latinos as portrayed by the media; 2) increase the number of American Latinos employed in all facets of the media industry; and 3) advocate for media and telecommunications policies that benefit the Latino community. 

NHMC is looking for a college student, a polished and professional individual with a confident and personable demeanor that is able to work from 20-30 hours per week. 

Functions include but are not limited to:
• Responsible for managing front desk which includes guest reception, answering phones, screening and forwarding calls.
• Ordering supplies
• Coordinating messengers and shipping.
• Sorting and distributing mail, faxes and packages.
• Filing other general office duties.
• Client contact & Database Management.
• Internet research and Special Projects.
• Will also assist with projects and day to day duties as they arise.

Job Requirements:
• Must be computer literate – strong ability to use MS Office suite and Internet.
• Must have excellent communication skills and phone etiquette, and be a team player.
• Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are preferred

Benny, 23-26 Latino: Served in the Air Force, is knowledgeable of the families in their community. Researches and studies the history of Latinos, especially in WWII.

Magdalena: 20-23 Latina, enjoys life, likes to joke with all, loves to party and help puts parties together.
