Call For Entries: Tiburon International Film Festival


The Tiburon International Film Festival is excited to announce the call for entries for its 6th annual event to run from March 22- 30, 2007.

Submissions are open to all genres of film (Fiction, documentary, short, animation, experimental, student, children, sports, music video.....) from any nation of the world.

Golden Reel Award
The films submitted to the Tiburon International Film Festival are eligible to win the Golden Reel Award in several categories: Best Fiction, Best Documentary, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Short, Best Animation, Best Children Film, Best Student Film . The Audience Award will be presented to one film through submitted ballots and the winners of all categories will be announced at the end of the Festival.

Cinematic CD Film2Music Competition

Film2Music Competition - US$10,000 Grand Prize

The Cinematic CD Film2Music Competition is currently inviting filmmakers across the world to create a short film to a track of their choice from the CD CINEMATIC.  Cinematic is instrumental music by composer Kubilay Uner intended to evoke vivid images and evolving stories.

Any visual style or format is permissible in the submitted films - live action or animation, realistic or abstract.  However, nothing besides the unedited music may be used in the soundtrack.

The Grand Prize is $10,000; two Second Prizes are set at $1,000 each. A panel of six internationally renowned filmmakers will determine those winners:

Writer/director MICHAEL POLISH (Northfork), producers CLARK PETERSON (Monster), JACKIE GEORGE (Demolition Man), JAMES C. HART (CSI), Disney Animation's DAVE BOSSERT (Fantasia 2000) and cinematographer M. DAVID MULLEN, ASC (Akeelah and the Bee.)

In addition to the juried prizes, a worldwide Internet audience will vote for one Online Audience Award winner, who will receive $5,000.

Singer-Actress Lainie Kazan To Speak At Next Women In Film Actors Group Meeting

Lainie Kazan has received critical acclaim for her roles in films including "Beaches," "What's Cooking," and the blockbuster comedy "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."  She has earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Belle Steinberg Carroca in 1982’s “My Favorite Year. Reprising the role in the Broadway Musical version of “My Favorite Year” 10 years later, Ms. Kazan was nominated for a Tony award. She has just completed filming the independent feature "Beau Jest" starring Seymour Cassell and Willie Garson.  Ms. Kazan has also just recently starred in the hit play, "Bermuda Avenue Triangle" co-starring Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna.  She co-produced her latest CD with award-winning pianist David Benoit, and Clark Germain, entitled "Lainie Kazan-In The Groove."This woman's talent is endless!  Lainie is also an avid supporter of various charities, and received the "Woman of the Year" award from B'nai Brith and has graced the stage for many AIDS benefits, telethons and non-profit organizations throughout the US.  You can find out more about Lainie Kazan at www.lainiekazan.com

NALIP member Iris Almaraz receives the Best Original Screenplay award
at the Nosotros American Latino Film Festival.

This brings her short film "La Puta" to a total of 7 interna-tional awards. The feature script of "La Puta" was a finalist at the Sundance
Screenwriters Lab and is now seeking funding for produc-tion as a full-length motion picture. "La Puta" is a magical tale of a pre-pubescent girl in Wonder Woman Underoos fleeing the misguided life

Sound Editor Wanted for Short

We are looking for a sound editor to help us finish our 12 min. psychological horror short. It is imperative that the film be done by the first week of September. Our sound editor had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts, but will be around to consult if necessary.

Status: We have picture lock, ADR is recorded, score is finished.

Need: A sound editor to insert ADR, clean up sound, add necessary sounds, score, etc.

Once everything is mixed, we will take it to a audio post facility for the final mixdown.

We are looking for an affordable but professional sound editor with narrative experience who can give us big budget quality. The film was shot by professional actors and crew with an award-winning director, and has a good chance at major festivals. This is the type of film where the music and sound is everything...(must be CREEPY). We've got a great score and just need an amazing sound editor to take us over the top! This will be a great showcase for you and your work, with a chance to open many doors to bigger projects.

Candidate needs to be available to start this week.
