Would You Like To Shape Conference 8?
Yes, it is that time of year when NALIP selects the panels, programs and speakers for our Annual Conference.
This year's event runs March 8 - 11 in Newport Beach, California at the beautifully remodeled Marriott Hotel and Spa. Our Conference Co-Chairs are Evangeline Griego, Pancho Mansfield and Rick Ramirez, and our focus is all the ramifications to production and distribution of the Mobile Media Revolution!
Conference Committee members are responsible for designing, programming and populating key panels, workshops, seminars and the media lab. The NALIPsters on View section is also curated by 2 NALIP members, and will be held in a better venue for showcasing your work and works-in-progress. Select Committee members work on the Gala Reels and Gala evening event. Others moderate and organize panels or plenaries. Chapter Development projects are also held during the Conference, and need volunteer staff.
Volunteers are eligible for discount Conference registration rates, and some travel/hotel support. Please contact us today if you are interested. This is a great way to support NALIP's national programming agenda, work with Board members and staff, and engage in the issues most critical to the indie Latino filmmaker.

Seeking Latino Producer For Strong Documentary On Amateur Boxing
Wanted: Latino Producer for strong documentary on amateur boxing aimed at
theatrical distribution. The documentary has been shooting for over a year
with an expected completion in January 2007. The film is in the vein of "Hoop
Dreams", "Mad Hot Ballroom", "Murderball" and the like but it is entirely
its own thing.
It is 60% complete and the director is in need of a producer who can bring in a couple investors for "finishing funds" as well as serve in the capacity as its main producer through the completion and selling of the film. This is not a large sum considering it is a documentary. There is already a complete prospectus. An individual with contacts within the larger Latino business community, as well as the entertainment industry, would be ideal.
The film has real interest from the same distribution companies and sales
agents that has put other docs into theaters. This is a perfect opportunity for the right person with true interest in real documentaries as most of the hard work has already been done on this.
Payment on this will be a combination of a flat salary and a percentage of
final sale. If seriously interested, please respond with info about yourself and phone number. The director will call you personally to discuss.
