$25,000 Knight Grand Jury Prizes Awarded in Three Competition Categories

Submissions Now Being Accepted for 2007 Festival

The 24th annual Festival to be held March 2 -11, 2007 is now accepting submissions for films. The early submission deadline is September 4, 2006 and the final submission deadline is October 6, 2006.

Submissions for juried competition categories are open to first- and second-time directors and include Dramatic Features – World Cinema, Dramatic Features – Ibero-American Cinema, and Documentary Features – World & Ibero-American Cinema. Non-competition categories are also open to submissions and include Short Films and Touching Florida.

Films must have been completed after September 1, 2005. Films must not have been publicly broadcast or exhibited commercially in the U.S. prior to the Festival.

A Knight Grand Jury Prize of $25,000 is awarded to a director in each of the three competition categories. A $2,500 cash prize is awarded to an Audience Award winner in each of the three competition categories.

Submission fees are as follows:
Early Submissions (Aug. 7 – Sept. 4): Features $30, Shorts $15
Final Submissions (Sept. 5 – Oct. 6): Features $40, Shorts $20

Ten short films are slated to launch the tenth annual Rhode Island Film Festival, taking place this year August 8 - 13 in Providence and other cities throughout the New England state. "AMERICAN IDENTITY," a short film about two best friends serving in the US army. Their personal lives are explored to see how the events of Septemeber 11th changed their lives forever. Both are sent to battle, one came home, one didn't.

The short film is made to be dedicated to a man and woman who lost their
lives on American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to LA on September 11.
Proceeds from the film will go to "Wives and Children's Fund of Military
Personnel Lost Since 9/11." CNN is doing a half hour behind the scenes
feature on the making of this movie, how it came to be and the purpose that
it serves. This is a short film made to gain interest in the feature film
in development. The big budget feature already has financing at distribution
deal in place.

· Edits video tape programs for broadcast on Government access channel or

· Monitors the broadcast of video programs over the Government access
channel;

· Operates professional/commercial video camera and or still camera in

· Takes part in set-up of equipment for special events such as news
conferences and meetings;
· Provides technical assistance to City departments on the production of
training films or informational videos;
· Maintains a library of film footage and still photos of City programs,
meeting and events;
· May work weekends videotaping ceremonial activities and/or air programs
on TVSA-21;
· Maintains Council Chamber audio/video equipment;
· Maintains audio/video equipment for various meeting rooms at Municipal
Plaza;
· Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job/Driving Requirements:
· Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED)
Certificate;
· Four years of increasingly responsible experience in video photography
and editing experience;
· This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License or obtain
a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within thirty (30) days after
becoming a resident of the State of Texas;
· Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of
liability insurance will be required;
· Substitution Ratio: Two years of related experience may be substituted
for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for
two years of experience;
