Screenwriting Workshop
Special discount for NALIP members!
Harrison Reiner,
a longtime mentor of NALIP writers, (a CBS
Movies of the Week staffer and former production executive
for Sovereign Pictures, co-distributors of the Academy Award-winning
films MY LEFT FOOT and CINEMA PARADISO), has been a big proponent
of promoting diversity in the area of writing for film and
television. He will be conducting a writing workshop through
UCLA's School of Film and Television, Professional
Programs.
The workshop commences July 15th and meets
for 10-12 weeks with meetings Saturday afternoons and some
Wednesday evenings. In the workshop, Reiner mentors a group
of approximately 8 writers in a highly nurturing environment,
scrutinizing every line of dialogue and every scene description
with the goal of the writer emerging with a camera-ready script.
When possible, Reiner tries to link the writer with an agent
or tries to help find production financing. Writers who are
unable to complete a polished draft in one quarter's time
can repeat as many times until the work is complete.
For more information, contact Stephanie
Moore, head of the Professional Programs at UCLA, at 310-825-6827.
Due to the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend, interested
applicants may also contact Reiner directly at hreinerCBS@aol.com.

A PREVIEW SCREENING OF
TRANSITION
JULY 1 and JULY 2, 2006

Democracy must be lived everyday,
not just on election day.
Mexican voter in July 2000
Transition tells the story of everyday democracy in
Mexico to better understand the historic steps forward.
(June 28, 2006, San Francisco, CA)
On July 2, 2006, Mexico will vote for its next president
and take another step on the road of an evolving democracy.
Mexico's election is considered a test for the
country's fragile democracy born of the victory
of President Vicente Fox, the country's first
opposition party president in more than 70 years. Transition
offers an opportunity to better understand what Mexican
voters seek at the polling booths this summer.
Transition is a vibrant, moving documentary
film about democracy in Mexico. On the street interviews
combine with unique footage of the historic 2000 elections
to bring greater understanding of the democratic process
in Mexico. The open, candid interviews and visual detail
engage the audience by presenting a view of Mexico and
Mexicans rarely seen. Transition allows Mexicans an
opportunity to share their expectations for democracy
in Mexico and share their opinions on how democracy
can be a truly transforming force. At this vital juncture,
Transition is an important film that sheds light on
Mexico's democracy today and into the future.
Transition is directed by Catherine
Herrera, a filmmaker and photojournalist, who lived
and worked in Mexico City from 1993 to 2001. Produced
by Flor de Miel Productions. Flor de Miel Productions
creates innovative and dynamic programming that deepens
coverage of events, news and people who impact Latino
and Native cultures in the U.S. and globally. Flor de
Miel Productions is a film production company offering
media that enlightens, educates and broadens understanding
of Latino and Indigenous cultures.

ACOGIDA INTERNACIONAL AL CINE
PUERTORRIQUENO

competicion.
Jose Rafael Alvarez, Blanca Lissette Cruz y Francisco

soledad y abuso infantil, advierte Cesar
Rodriguez, quien se muestra muy agradecido por
el apoyo logistico que le ha ofrecido
para la distribuciin Gustavo Rodriguez
de la 20th Century Fox.
