Fellow NALIP member Diego Velasco just won a Gold Addy for his 60 second spot for Cox Communications!

Cox is the third largest cable provider in the nation, and to help celebrate their 25th anniversary in New Orleans, they asked Diego to direct a commercial about the city he knows and loves so well. He decided to put a twist on the treatment he was given and instead of
doing a straight out shoot, he created a sequence of animated still photographs.
The result was so beautiful that it stirred many feelings of nostalgia for what New Orleans means to many of us... The result? A Gold Addy... and the pictures currently being displayed in Cox headquarters.

ASSISTANT WANTED

My name is Matt Simon. I'm an Associate Producer on MY NAME IS EARL. Our Executive Producer/Director Marc Buckland, a fantastic guy and extremely talented director who gave me my start in this biz, is looking for an Assistant to start on or around July 5th at $650/wk.

The ideal candidate should have experience in the entertainment industry, patiently aspire to produce or direct comedy, be smart, organized, laid back, kind, work well with others, have strong computer skills, love to read, enjoy being around comics, etc.

Among other aspects of the job, Marc's assistant will spend long hours on set during weeks when he is directing. When Marc isn't directing, the hours will generally be 10A to 7P and his assistant will be in the office in beautiful trailer trashy Van Nuys, CA. His assistant will also handle calls with agents and managers looking to get their clients directing gigs on MY NAME IS EARL, coordinate Marc's schedule and certain parts of our show's schedule, be in regular contact with execs at NBC and FOX to make sure they're happy with Marc and he with them, and work with me to make sure MY NAME IS EARL (our show's daily prep, production and post) and the THE MY NAME IS EARL FRANCHISE (license merchandizing, DVD, international, etc.) run smoothly.

In addition, Marc's assistant will very occasionally hang out with Marc's two young sons when his wife comes by the set, get Marc's lunch/meals/snacks, and coordinate Marc's travel schedule.

So basically, this position requires doing whatever it takes to make Marc's life easier, my life easier, and our show and franchise run and be as great as they can possibly be.

I will begin interviewing candidates for this position next week, so any interested NALIP-sters should e-mail resumes (in a pdf or rtf file) and a short cover letter to me at Matt.Simon@tvbyfox.com
