the viability of each project, the type and quality
of your prior work, your creative plans and commitment
to a career in producing & media leadership, plus
your potential to benefit from the Academy curriculum
and opportunity.
A documentary or narrative feature Producer is the
person who causes a film to be made, and made well.
NALIP believes that a Producer is the creative originator
of films, a self-starter who recognizes ideas that
have creative or commercial merit. Producers must
have passion, a sensitivity for story and audience,
plus the organizational ability and practical smarts
to put together a project and guide it to and through
the marketplace.
The goal of NALIP’s Latino Producers
Academy is to give our Fellows the practical skills
and knowledge to accomplish their personal goals and
artistic dreams as filmmakers.

“BEYOND STRUCTURE” IS HIRING A PRODUCER!
Hi everyone,
Many of you are familiar with “Beyond Structure,”
which has grown to be LA’s most popular screenwriting
workshop (http://www.beyondstructure.com).
It’s offered in LA twice a year, New York once a year,
and in other cities as well.
The ideal person would be someone who is extremely organized,
good with accounting skills, who doesn’t mind leading
a team, and who is unflappable in the face of chaos.Though
not critical, it’s preferable that you live
in Los Angeles. The producer tends to make $3k
to $4k per class, and we usually do at least three per
year – so you would likely make at least $9k - $12k
per year. And of course there are also the rewards of
helping writers. Tony will orchestrate the transition, and
you’ll be paid some money for your training period.
Here are the various responsibilities of the position.
Tony will train you in all of them:
1. Doing the accounting leading up to the workshop, and afterward.
This is the biggest part of the job.
2. Processing credit cards.
3. Answering questions that people email in or phone in.
4. Preparing enrollment sheets for both Los Angeles and New
York classes.
5. Helping set up the LA room the day before the class.
6. Running the Los Angeles workshop.
To apply, you must mention that you heard about this from
Jeff Gund/The Info List, and email a cover letter to: freeman@dfreeman.com
Thanks,
David Freeman

up her baby for adoption. Her life will forever be changed
