FOX TV WRITING OPPORTUNITY!!!!

The Fox Entertainment Group (hereinafter "Fox") announces a new chapter in its campaign to identify and support promising writers from diverse backgrounds. Since 2001, Fox has accepted submission of TV "spec" scripts towards the selection of aspiring writers for a six-week program at Writer's Boot Camp ("WBC") in Los Angeles. As a part of the Boot Camp experience the selected writers have written an additional "spec" script under the supervision of WBC instructors and Fox Diversity executives.

In the 2006 edition of Fox' writers outreach we do not wish to receive "spec" material based on series already on the air. In this new phase of our program, we are soliciting submission of original television pilot scripts.

Writers selected for this program will be enrolled in a concentrated course at Writer's Boot Camp where the writer will receive up to six months of instruction and personal guidance from instructors and Fox Diversity executives. During that time our hope will be to guide the writer through drafts of their original pilot towards the goal of a top-quality script that can be submitted to broadcast and cable networks for pilot consideration.

We encourage all diverse writers with a story to tell, or writers of any color with a diverse series lead character in mind, to submit their scripts per the guidelines described on the Writer’s Submission page on our website: http://fox.com/diversity/

PLEASE NOTE: We will accept submissions from March 15, 2006 through June 30, 2006. Submissions must be postmarked no later than June 30, 2006. The deadline for receiving submissions is July 7, 2006. Late submissions will be returned unopened.
No phone calls, please. Submissions that do not meet the guidelines as articulated on our website will be returned.

SIR! NO SIR!
produced by NALIP Board Member, Evangeline Griego opens in LA and runs for two weeks

This rousing documentary details the GI movement against the war in Vietnam. It flourished in army stockades, navy brigs and dingy military base towns, penetrated elite military colleges like West Point and spread throughout the battlefields of Vietnam. It was a movement no one expected, least of all those in it. Hundreds went to prison, thousands into exile and by 1971 it had infested the entire armed services.

Art house cinema
Writer-director Carlos Reygadas opens his tour de force drama with a close-up on the face of Marcos (Marcos Hernandez) standing naked and staring blank-faced into the lens. After the camera descends over his obese body and reveals his young sex partner, we hear rapturous orchestral music by John Tavener (who contributed a choral work to Princess Diana's funeral procession). When Reygadas returns to this intimate moment at the end of "Battle in Heaven," the victor in the film's title is an exquisite mystery.
